Just been reading on the BBC that the Navy (THE Navy) are testing a new radar upgrade on the Lynx this week at Dover...
...on the cliffs.
Apparently they've parked a fully crewed Lynx there, turn on the power, and are using the cross channel traffic between Dover and Calais to test the equipment.
All in an effort to save fuel. Nice bit of lateral thinking by whoever had that idea!

This sounds a pretty good idea to me. I think that part of the Channel is the busiest waterway in the world. Providing it does what they want I'm all for making cuts in this way if possible rather than on the equipment itself.

considering the fact the MOD are trying to cut costs everywhere now, it doesnt surprise me.(side note, doesnt look like a new lynx will be built now, looking at the blackhawk)

The think I like about this is the fact that surely they have to fly the helicopter to the cliff anyway.
