I just downloaded GMAX and started using the Tutorials. I was wondering how to get a model into FS 2004 if I ever finish one. It must have something to do with FSexport.dll and makemdl.exe. but I am a long way from understanding what. Can anyone help me out here with some direction. I guess I also need to know where I can find these files. Thanks for any help you can give me.

And try this one: gmax to FS2002.  Even though you're trying to go to ACOF, the principles will be the same.

WELCOME TO THE SIMVIATION FORUMS!!!!!!

Here, you will find tons of helpful info that Microsoft was never able to give and tons of info on addons, 3D design, scenery design, panel design, general discussions, etc.

Let's introduce ourselves.

Felix, Pippin, Ozzy, Pete, and few others are the moderators. The stars under Felix's name are the moderator stars. Anyone who has those stars is a moderator.

I am the so-called wierdo who is making CARS [ya heard me right] for the FLIGHT simulators. I'm also the pro at making cars for FS. Grin

Ender Baron is a nice guy who can help on a lot of things. Especially aircraft modeling.

We have a load of people in these forums [more the 10,000 members] who can help you if you need any.

Just remember this one rule, though:

DO NOT POST ANY THREADS THAT RELATE TO POLITICAL EVENTS OR PEOPLE.

Politics has no place here because this is a completely diverse Simviation community and we want to AVOID arguements [also known as flame wars].

Other than that, have fun. Grin

Well I keep reading the post you advised and everything refers to FS 2002 Pro, and other files that are not in my computer. I am using FS 9 (2004) and it is all greek to me. FS 9 came with GMAX on the first disk but can't find any of the other files that are mentioned in the post. I checked the export box of GMAX and the only file extention I can export in is .P3D I even went to the Microsoft site and searched for makemdl SDK with no results. Going to delete GMAX now and just mark it off as a lost cause.

Well, I wouldn't delete gmax.  I would take the time to learn it, play with it, etc.  Sooner or later MS will release the appropriate converter for FS9, or at least release the FS2002 Pro FSModelExp.dle ...

Check out Ebay.com.... FS2002Pro going for around $25 to $30. Less than half the original price. Then you will have the FSModelExp.dle (gamepack) necessary for export from gWax. Might seem like a lot to pay for just one file, but if your REALLY interested in modeling for the sim, not a bad price to pay for the licence.
