I have downloded all the AvHistory 1% planes. So I edited all the default missions so they include only the AH birds.  Then I removed some of the default planes to another folder to save space.  However, it seems some of the AH planes have cockpits aliased to the default planes so when i remove them the cockpits in some of the 1% planes are just plain black in the front around the gunsight and canopy framing.  is there any way around this?  I don't want to have to have all the default planes installed, because i never use most of them.

I don't know much about CFS3. With any other M$ sim it's never a good idea to remove default files & I wouldn't recommend it. The aircraft are probably used in 3rd party missions anyway.

Not a good idea to remove the stock planes since many of the Avhistory planes use components of the stockers like sound and some textures.

Also not a good idea to change the stock missions since you can make changes and save it as a different named version and always have the original to check.
I had rebuilt all my stock planes with 1% files and add-on skins, so when they spawn they are not stock. There is a RAF 1% campaign available and I will be releasing more including a Ground Crew bf-110G campaign (at GC).
You can make separate folders out side the game and interchange your aircraft as needed to reduce space or performance concerns. You can also remane your aircraft folder names (not the aircraft, just the folder in the aircraft folder) I use a number key system to easily indentify specific groups, 1- is the 43-5 era planes of Europe, 5P- is Pacific planes, K- is Korean etc, what ever works for you. or there are exchange files available.

you guys are probably right.  I got fed up this morning with the stupid "Mission File failed to load" crap, and reinstalled all the default planes.
