Hi Lads.... Grin...!
Can anyone point me to a File containing good quality sounds for a flat, six cylinder, Continental/Lycoming engine.
Most of the prop plane sounds default to the C182 flat four engine, which never sounds right in an aircraft fitted with a flat six engine...(trust me)... Wink...!
I have done a search in the SimV "sounds" section, no luck.
Failing that can anyone recommend an aircraft download, with a six cylinger engine and its equivalent sound file...so that I can pinch it.... Wink...LOL...!

Thanks for any help... Grin...!
Paul.

P.S. note that the Piper Pawnee tug/ag is fitted with an Avco Lycoming O-540-B flat six, 235 HP engine, but the sound file uses the default Cessna 182 sound file... Angry...!

Foz. I'm not sure there is a typical sound for a flat 6. Judging from the aircraft flying around here they all have their own distinctive sound no matter what engine they're fitted with. This depends on the exhaust system & props among other things. Some light twins sound just like Spitfires. Imagine my disappointment when I rush outside half-dressed to see them. Roll Eyes The neighbours already have doubts about my sanity & this just goes to confirm their suspicions. It's not a pretty sight & also gives them a nasty shock. Shocked Tongue

The way I do it is to find a sound I think most suitable & use that. Doesn't matter what it's called or meant to be as long as it sounds right. Wink

Fozzer,

I don't believe you said which version of Flight Simulator you are using, but I know there are FS98 sounds for the Piper Aztec on www.flightsim.com. ; You need a login to access the site, but it is free to sign up.  The Aztec uses a Lycoming TIO-540-C1A turbocharged flat-6 of 250 hp.  I hope that will be a good substitute for your plane.  If not, flightsim has many other sound files, so you might be able to find a better one.  Good luck!

Hi Eldorado...!
Thanks mate...!

(FS 2002/2004)

Downloaded the sounds from Flightsim. (sounds. Piper Aztec).
I needed them for my Piper Pawnee tug/crop duster fitted with the 6 cylinder motor. (The default sounds are from the Cessna 182, 4 cylinder, which never sound quite right... Cry...)...!
LOL...!

All works fine... Grin...!

Thanks again mate... Grin...!
...off to dust a few crops now... 8)...!

Paul.
