There are several animation procedures you need to follow.  For much more on this, check the FFDS site in my signature.

But here's the basics:

Center gear should be labled "c_gear"
Left gear should be labled "l_gear"
Right gear should be labled "r_gear"

Any components of the gear such as the shocks or wheel rims should be labled as above, with a suffix (c_gear_shock_strut, l_gear_wheel_rim)

Animations should be 200 frames instead of the default 100 frames.  First 100 frames (0-100) should be the movement of the gear from the up position (flying) to the down position (landing).  The last 100 frames (101-200) should be the compression of the shock absorbers on the gear.

That should get you started, but you really need to get the tutorials on the FFDS site; they are the best I have seen to date.
