It's not the same Velvet Underground though.  It's a different band with the same name...

Looks like you woke a lot of guys up, while exercising your first amendment rights.

That's cool if you don't like a certain band, but to say they suck, and then listen to these bands that sing about how terrible life is, is a bit hippocritical.

All the bands you see live, that is, when they decide to show up for a gig, have taken the theatrics that KISS made cool, and they use them, but then criticize KISS.

I've been on every KISS tour since 1978.  It was, and still is, the greatest rock n roll show on earth.  And while a lot of people dis them, it seems at every concert there are 20,000 people who feel otherwise.  I've never run into anyone at a KISS concert who said they were forced to go.

Is very simple.  If you don't like the band, and their music, then turn it off, and listen to all the mediocrity that's out there now.  You don't have to attend KISS concerts if you don't want to.  If you hear the music, it's by choice, nobody is forcing you.

Funny thing, while it was cool seeing Aerosmith with KISS, everybody automatically gives Aerosmith critical acclaim, because they're Aerosmith.  KISS doesn't need teleprompters to read their own lyrics during a show ( Tyler still gets 'em wrong).  They don't have a guy helping with the lead vocals.  And KISS can still go for two plus hours.  I doubt if Aerosmith can.  They were still excellent, but everyone overlooks the shortcomings, and criticizes KISS.

If you play in a band, take a lesson from the band that knows how to give people their money's worth, every night!  Just my opinion.   Undecided

I  They both came up at about the same time.  I think Kiss started in 69, and Alice was near that same time.

KISS started in '73, alice a wee before, but u r right, and KISS emulated Alice's ways with the makeup and high heels..

1970 Is when Gene and Paul first started playing together as Wicked Lester which a short time after became KISS.

Ah! But Peter was in Lester at the end and a few  "KISS" songs were recorded by Wicked Lester, She is the recording of one I like the best sort of sounds like Jethro Tull a little.
Keep me waiting, Love her all I can, just to name a few.
Somewhere here I have the Wicked Lester recordings, bootleg mind you but still awesome piece of music history,I'll try and gather a list of songs for you.

well u r right, it all deends from where u looks at it. lester wa not a band but an orchestra, from my limited knowledge of lester, they had like 7 ppl in the band didnt they? i've seen pix of a guy with a flute and stuff Shocked lol, if u've read KISS and Make up (Gene's auto bio) there is this part where he talks about reforming lester, and he says something like "paul and i wanted to reform the band so we called a reunion and started to fire ppl, we fired half the band but then they got pissed and we ended up fired, not them." so it was from there that KISS started. i really recomend that book, is rather funny, and interesting Cheesy
