First of all, RAM isn't a drive, it's a chip.
Second, looking at the motherboard won't tell you how much RAM you've got.
Third, if you've purchased a legal version of FS, the dealer can be as dodgy as he/she would like. A legitmate version is a legitimate version.
Fourth, when FS itself needs 64mb of RAM, and you've only got 56mb of RAM, and you wonder why a program won't work, compare the two numbers. If the number you have is less than the number it needs, that's more than likely the problem. Yes, there could be other issues, but that's the most logical to begin with, because even if you correct the other issues, by failing to meet the minimum requirements, the program isn't going to work.

I just checked out the System Requirements for Windows 2000. It's quoted as 64 Mb RAM as opposed to 16 Mb for Win98 & 32 Mb RAM for WinMe.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/professional/evaluation/sysreqs/default.asp
Bearing in mind that M$ always quotes the barest minimum requirements for all programs, you will need at least 128 Mb RAM to run the OS + FS2002. That's
without
any other applications running.

Agreed, but what I was referring to was the minimum requirements for FS2k2, which state that one would need 64MB of RAM for the program itself, forgetting about any system RAM requirements.

I'm not arguing with you Scott. Merely pointing out why 56 Mb would be far too little RAM. You can be very pedantic at times.

RAM comes in strips and there are usually four slots on your motherboard. Get yourself a 128, 256 or 512 MB strip of RAM and you will see a vast improvement in the performance of your system.

Precisely.
I'm well aware that this also applies to me. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

It's not like it's the first time you've been misunderstood Scott.
