What are the steps to put a pilot in the airplane. Airplanes such the widgeon or the pby do not have a visible pilot. Is this a difficult task? Can I just download it somewhere and put in in tha aircraft's file

Thanks

Hi Olimac. Pilots & gunners can be added to the DP file like external weapons. There are 3rd party examples posted on various sites. I suggest you try MW's SpitPak ibrary first. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/cfs2/spitpak.htm

Full instructions are included. The pilot might not show up when the aircraft is used by AI.

Check out my YAS spitfire file, I've included a pilot figure which can be cut and pasted into your FSDS design model.

Thank you very much for your replies. I followed teh link but unfortunately the most important link to download leads nowhere adn in the other two, although I found a pilot file in one I don´t seem to find any instructions as to where to put it.

By any chance are you talking of adding a pilot to an existing FS add-on?

No Pete. This topic somehow got moved from the CFS2 section.

It does seem to me that the fellow is wondering about placing a pilot in an existing compiled model, in which case, of course, it can't be done (unless a pilot figure can be built as a bomb and dp'd into place?)

Felix. It is indeed possible in CFS2 to add a pilot or crew to any 3rd party aircraft as a weapon in the DP file.

I suggest that moving this topic to the Design forum was a mistake. It's only confusing the issue.  Roll Eyes

Suggestion taken - topic re-moved - issue re-confused.

Thank you, didn' mean to cause quite a revolution as to where to put the topic, so far the only sim I've got is CFS2, thus the reason Iplaced the topic in that section.
Any way I even downloaded tha beautiful Spitfire file (pitty about it not having its own panel) to fly it and analyse it , and see if I could figure it out that way, bad news, I could not, I placed that pilot file all over the place dp, db model etc, etc, it did not work. Basically I want to see a pilot (or two) in planes I download such as the PBY floatplane, the widgeon, and other 3rd party designed A/C.
Could you tell it to me like a five year old(whowoud probably would have understood by now)
Once again, thank you very much to all of you who have replied.

Hello Olimac,

There's a Spitfire panel over @ comesk.com

http://www.comesk.com/

Look in the Downloads section  Smiley

Olimac. It was not your fault the topic got moved. It was posted in the correct forum to start with. Wink

As I recall, full instructions for adding the pilot to any aircraft are included with the SpitPak. Once installed the pilot is added to the DP file. If you're not familiar with editing DP files I suggest you download/install an aircraft that uses the pilot & use that as an example. Cryingtoto's Spitfire IX is the one Martin Wright did himself using his pilot.
http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft1.htm

The pilot will need repositioning to suit any other aircraft. He must be added to all payload entries if you want him to show up in all options. If you edit a DP file, always delete the corresponding CDP file. A new one will be created next time you fly the aircraft.
