No luck from your link Dan. I haven't seen a Dove or Heron for FS since FS98. Shame as these 2 aircraft mean a great deal to me. If anyone does see one please let me know too.

Hi  Dan TLUK thanks for the link found a Heron on one of them, but at the risk of sounding fussy it isnt a very good likeness, Cry having said that its a lot better than I could do Grin

ok, been looking everywhere, coincidentally while watching the 'Thriller' vid i just downloaded..

aaand I can't find a darned thing. Nothing on nonodes, doesnt seem to be on Avsim (even though that search is naff in my eyes) and our great SimV seems devoid of the plane here.

So, I went hunting for 3 view to post. And.. no such luck. Nothing on aviacherteg, airwar, combataircraft, suurland (now thats a first) and I don't go to any other sites for 3 views.

looks like we're stuck then? Unless someone else knows of a fs version or 3 views?

Basically yes, but there's slightly more to it than that. If anything the Heron was a 4-engined Dove.

In this case yes but, as you know, this is not always so. Manufacturer's numbers often run out of sequence. The DH.104 Dove was intended as a Rapide replacement. The first prototype, G-AGPJ, first flew at Hatfield on September 25, 1945, and featured twin De Havilland Gipsy Queen 71 (supercharged) engines (with 3-bladed props) and a retractable landing gear based on the Vampire fighter.

The original Heron, G-ALZL, flew on May 19, 1950 and featured four De Havilland Gipsy Queen 30 engines (unsupercharged with 2-bladed props) and a fixed undercarriage. This was the Series 1. The later Series 2 had retracting gear.

The Saunders Corporation of Canada converted several existing Heron airframes with 2 PT6A turboprops & other improvements which became the Saunders ST 27. They also built some from scratch as the ST 27B, later the ST 28.

After many hours of dead ends and useless links I think I have found what everyone here is looking for!

Try this link: http://svc.ana.co.jp/eng/aboutana/corporate/galleryclassi/1953/dhd.html

and this one for the heron:
http://svc.ana.co.jp/eng/aboutana/corporate/galleryclassi/1953/dhh.html

Hope that helps in some small way. When the bage comes up there is a popup that says something about installing a language pack, i just hit cancel and had no problems.
Hope this is what you were looking for in the ways of a photo, not so good three-view, and even a small list of specs.

Sorry that the three views are small but they are the only ones I have been able to find thus far and thought they would be better than what we had going so far. I am always on the search though as this is my second favorite thing to do on the net. I love a challenge, I like nothing more than for someone to be looking for something and I can find it for them. It is kinda my way of helping out this fine group of people we have here since I dont make aircraft or scenery. I can't repaint to save my life, and I am about as usefull around here as a screen door on a submarine. LOL
Anyways, I will let you know if i find anything else that may be of help.
Still searching,

Kevin

Thanks for taking the time. You've been more successful than me so far. I even found a 3-view of the Miles M.60 Marathon (manufactured by Handley Page) from one of your links. This aircraft has a special meaning for me as I had my first flight in one in 1957. I was also involved with breaking one up for spares in the 1960s. I still have 2 of the 3 air reservoirs fitted to a compressor in my workshop.

Hi Kevin

Is there a chance you might find me a Radial Engined
DHC-3 (Otter) not the Turbine Otter and preferably on amphib floats.
I have a wheel and float version now.

Happy Landings...Cheers....Doug

Hagar - are you looking for Dove/Heron plans?  Warbirds had both.  If you need them, let me know.  As you can see, I'm partly into the Heron (Continental engines) and Dove (DH engines).

The Heron plans cover the Series 1 and 2, and scratch views of the Continental conversions.

As an aside, PRINAIR paid to have a "regular" Continental  4-engined Series 2 "stretched" to accomodate about 24 passengers, but this didn't go further since they bought CASA 212 aircraft, shortly before selling to American Eagle.

I have been looking for one of those since FS9 came out and have not been able to find a single offering anywhere that is compatible. I also have the wheel and float but no amphib. Sorry.

Sorry Felix. I somehow missed this. Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that some time. I'm not particularly interested in this for myself as I have no immediate plans to attempt my own examples. It would be nice if someone with more talent took it on.

I should have the spares lists & maintenance manuals for both aircraft around somewhere, unless they got dumped during a move. I'm sure these contain accurate 3-views & more information than anyone could possibly wish for.

I did spot your shot & wondered about its significance. I prefer the originals myself. They always looked better to me.

Of course, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ...  my "preference" for the Continental Herons is that I flew in them, and the president of PRINAIR was, for a time, my neighbour (and took me flying in his Mooney).

I can't imagine a non-DH engined Dove.

The DH nacelles, though, aren't mine - they're presents from Frank Elton of Pegasus.

It's a small world. I once personally overhauled 95% of all pneumatic components on the Dove & Heron. One of our best customers was PRINAIR as they had the largest fleet of Herons in the world. I knew their chief engineer very well. Wink

Did you never see a Riley Dove? http://www.airliners.net/open.file/094160/M/
I recall a terrible accident with one of these when the main spar failed. There was a big fuss about it at the time.

You're welcome although it took some finding. Can't be too many around now, maybe on account of the spar failure I mentioned. You have to be careful not to overdo it with some of these fancy modifications.

I actually did a lot of work on the Riley Dove for a company named McAlpines that converted some in the UK. They were quite popular at one time. I never actually saw one & was quite shocked to find out what they'd done to the old girl.

PS. I was also heavily involved with the Saunders ST-27. I thought that was a nice looking aircraft.

Don't know if this is of use but here you go: Heron & Dove
http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=185 ; http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=184

There is a Heron sitting at the Chilliwack, BC airport. I've only seen it from a distance so I don't know what condition it's in nor it's history. Next time I'm out there I'll try to get some digi pics.
