Not to be outdone by our cousins across the puddle, I decided to give it a go in an American plane. After all, our pride is at stake here. So using the Detroit Miss (not part of Steve Smalls Reno Racers) I took her up and got her to 42,200 before giving in. I might have managed another hundred. I din't drop any fuel or lighten the payload either. BTW, that's the Tampa Bay area and the St Petersburg peninsula in the background.

Jolly good show Pippin old chap. Now hows about a nice vertical dive to maximum speed & pull out at zero feet without snapping those wings off.

I was hoping you would ask! I admit defeat on the altitude, but never on the speed!

That's all very impressive but how do we know you didn't end up as a pile of scrap metal?
I'm sure you're just teasing me.

Not at all sir; I lived to tell the tale. I don't suppose you'd accept my word of honor would you?

Definitely not. We've met types like you before & need proof. Better luck next time old boy.
