I bought a new computer game last night called "Call Of Duty" it is a world war 2 shooter that in my opinion blows MOHAA out of the water (and im a huge MOHAA fan). The game has three interconnected campaigns which are played from the US, British and Russian perspectives. what i liked about the game over MOHAA is that you actually have a squad of some pretty intellignet and self sufficeint AI and there is a little bit of stategy to the game. The entire war doesnt seem to rest on your shoulders and There is a lot of teamwork involved. I think there are only a couple of levels where you split up from the main squad to accomplish some out of the way objective but this is rare as the game focuses on the idea that "no one man ever one a war."
MOHAA's addons like breakthrough and Spearhead were good, except for that the game was over in a few hours of game play... Not "Call of Duty", i got started at 9:00 pm and was hooked... before i knew it it was like 5:00 am and my wife was Bit*hing!  Grin

As the US paratrooper you start out as a pathfinder who parachutes into normandy ahead of the main force and you must set up a radio beacon for the rest of the troopers to home in on for parachute landings. at this point parachutes fall and all h3LL breaks loose. sporatic firefights, house to house fighting, take out some AAA guns and hold a village from hellish assaults. There is even a great car chase level here as you and a couple of buddies take intel to the next town.

As the British you are part of a glider regiment. You and your team must secure and hold a bridge defending it from tank and infantry assault until reinforcements arrive, take out a damn, escape a German airfield via stolen bomber and some V-2 rockets. (the brit missions in my opinion were a bit to special forces/behind enemy lines like but it adds an interesting element to the game)

And as the russians you start of at Stalingrad and work your way to berlin. The level begins just like the movie "enemy at the gates"... i dont think this is a rip off because history records stalingrad in this way. The man in front gets a rifle, you get bullets and basically follow until he gets wasted. Dont retriet...or else your own commanders mow you down with MG fire.

i thought the game was less drama/ movie like than MOHAA and captures more of a mood of being in actual combat type situations in that it is often fast paced, quick decision combat where it is not uncommon to be fighting alongside, in some cases up to 20 other team mates of great intelligence. i recommend a large monitor, fast machine and great loud sound!

If anyone else has played this game i would like to hear what you think of it! Especially how it compares to MOHAA.

I got online and looked the game up, it looks pretty good but one thing bothers me. It states in the requirements that a 3D 32MB DirectX 9.0b-compatible T&L-capable video card is required, and i've got only a GeForce 3 Ti 500 card.

Will this be a problem?

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault.

I am a huge MOHAA fan, in fact this is the only game i play seriously online, but I agree that Call Of Dudy is better then MOHAA.  Few of the things that i like about Call Of Duty is that AI is much more intelligent then in MOHAA, and of course teamwork.  What I like the most is that while playing online, if you get killed, you get to see the replay, through the eyes of the person who killed you.  That way you can't say "Oh thats BS!! He is cheating!!"

I would imagine that, for an online first person shooter, WW2 Online would be better - there is no AI to deal with.....

This is a common cause of duplicate posts. I don't know why either but I discovered some time ago that even when you get an error message the topic has been posted. It's a good idea to check before trying again.

Sometimes the duplicated topic nukes another one & causes it to disappear for ever. The mods have been unfairly accused of deleting topics in the past. I'm not sure if this happened this time. Wink

i've played both of the demos avaiable on the net.

pros:
- graphics (details,animations)
- AI (enemy AI is very good, team AI is awesome, especially the "hiding from enemy fire" mode)
- atmosphere (as you would imagine the '44 invasion)
- effects (especially, when a mortar grenade explodes next to you)

conts:
- you can't play as a wehrmacht soldier
- too arcade-like (imho the best reason not to buy it. not as bad as MOHAA,and not as good as operation flashpoint (imho the best war game ever!))
- too short (from what i've read)
