I bought a new computer game last night called "Call Of Duty" it is a world war 2 shooter that in my opinion blows MOHAA out of the water (and im a huge MOHAA fan). The game has three interconnected campaigns which are played from the US, British and Russian perspectives. what i liked about the game over MOHAA is that you actually have a squad of some pretty intellignet and self sufficeint AI and there is a little bit of stategy to the game. The entire war doesnt seem to rest on your shoulders and There is a lot of teamwork involved. I think there are only a couple of levels where you split up from the main squad to accomplish some out of the way objective but this is rare as the game focuses on the idea that "no one man ever one a war."
MOHAA's addons like breakthrough and Spearhead were good, except for that the game was over in a few hours of game play... Not "Call of Duty", i got started at 9:00 pm and was hooked... before i knew it it was like 5:00 am and my wife was Bit*hing!  Grin

As the US paratrooper you start out as a pathfinder who parachutes into normandy ahead of the main force and you must set up a radio beacon for the rest of the troopers to home in on for parachute landings. at this point parachutes fall and all h3LL breaks loose. sporatic firefights, house to house fighting, take out some AAA guns and hold a village from hellish assaults. There is even a great car chase level here as you and a couple of buddies take intel to the next town.

As the British you are part of a glider regiment. You and your team must secure and hold a bridge defending it from tank and infantry assault until reinforcements arrive, take out a damn, escape a German airfield via stolen bomber and some V-2 rockets. (the brit missions in my opinion were a bit to special forces/behind enemy lines like but it adds an interesting element to the game)

And as the russians you start of at Stalingrad and work your way to berlin. The level begins just like the movie "enemy at the gates"... i dont think this is a rip off because history records stalingrad in this way. The man in front gets a rifle, you get bullets and basically follow until he gets wasted. Dont retriet...or else your own commanders mow you down with MG fire.

i thought the game was less drama/ movie like than MOHAA and captures more of a mood of being in actual combat type situations in that it is often fast paced, quick decision combat where it is not uncommon to be fighting alongside, in some cases up to 20 other team mates of great intelligence. i recommend a large monitor, fast machine and great loud sound!

If anyone else has played this game i would like to hear what you think of it! Especially how it compares to MOHAA.

Hi Ritter-Got "Call of Duty" yesterday and and am now at Pegasus Bridge Shocked .I think the teamwork element makes it a lot more realistic than MOHAA and the graphics are just as good.Yes- a fast machine is a must and the sound is great(My Wife keeps asking me to turn the sound down as she can't hear the telly- in the next room Grin.
Looking forward to the Ruskie campaign and a bit of sniping Smiley
I always hate finishing these war games as life seems a little dull afterwards-Still I can always finish Max Payne2 , Broken Sword 3 and Breakthrough!
Enjoy the rest of the game-I know I will Wink
Best of luck

PS My wife worries about me playing these shooties-I think she's afraid I might have a heart attack-Haven't had so much fun since the Duke Nukem series-Yes there's a lot to be said for retirement  Grin

it seemed to be a little bit longer than Breakthrough for MOHAA.

I dont recall how many levels there are... but some reviews claim 5 to 10 hours of play depending on skill level.

i finished installing the game around 9:30 pm and given the occasional break for a snack or to take out the trash etc i was finished around 5:00 am... i finished MOHAA and both add ons in a similar amount of time. so you can expect something similar to those games. But it is a very intense time no matter if it takes you 3 or 12 hours. i think aeronut will agree... most of the levels are more intense than pretty much anything in MOHAA. especially "pegasus", the bridge level. Perfect example of a small force overtaking an objective held by a larger force and then holding it for reinforcements! great game... if you liked MOHAA you will love Call of Duty.
