No! Not Britney Spears...!!

After recently purchasing my "Captain Sensible" DH Beaver float plane, and getting it fixed by our senior engineer, Mr. Hagar, I thought to myself "I really need a little bit of excitement as well, in my advancing years..."... 8)...!
So...
I popped out to see my friendly aircraft supplier at San Francisco Airport, had a browse around, and bought...
...a brand new, yellow, ACA Super Decathlon, aerobatic, 180 HP, beauty!
Woo, flippin' Hoo... Grin... Grin... Grin...!
-------------------------------------------

Filling up the fuel tanks at Sonoma Valley. Weather perfect... Smiley...!

...

Crusin' in the blue and havin' fun, big smile... Grin...!

...

Overflying Napa County Airfield, tipped the wings... 8)...!

...overflynapa

Travis Air Force Base in front. Got clearance to land, (I hope).... Roll Eyes...?

...

Ready to land. Two whites, two reds, looking good, ready to flare.. Wink...!

...

Topping up the tanks at Travis AFB amongst the huge Hercules C-130's... 8)...!

...

Taking off again. After lots of practice, trying a bit of aerobatics, as you do, rotating scenery, brain expoloding, tummy in a turmoil.... Shocked...!

...

Landed safely back, all in one piece, at Sonoma Valley, heart slowing down, motor cooling off, a pat on the back from my mates, and ready for a nice cool glass of beer in the FBO...!
Fantastic day out with my new baby.

...

-----------------------------------------------------------
The plane is from...

http://www.flightsim.com

..look out for the extra, superb, accompanying Lycoming sound file...!!

Lots of various textures for it from...

Cheers all...!
Happy flyin'.... Grin...!
Paul.

P.S.  reduced all the pics to 640 X 480 to get Uncle Pete to accept them.... Wink...!

Great pictures and great airplane also! I downloaded it about a week ago.  Not quite what I'm looking for, but in general a very good airplane all around.  I'm looking for a 75-76 Bellanca Citabria...basically a decathalon with cheap wings Smiley

Happy flying,

Jared

Lively scenery, Fozzer.
All these pics have a... what's the word... sort of 'freshness' to them. (Like Britney Shocked).
Nice little plane, lots of scenery. I was about to make a comment about the 'aerobatics' part, when i came accross the 7th pic. Saved you a sneer  Wink

More to come, I hope?

LOL An aerobatic Fozzer no less. Never thought I would see the day. Shocked Roll Eyes Grin

A little reminder of the classic Flight Unlimited we were discussing. They were doing this back in 1995. Maybe the scenery was less than perfect but still the ultimate aerobatic sim. IMHO

I must check this out myself some time. Wink

lol..the Flight Unlimited by Looking Glass Technologies! I have it sitting here in front of me now that you mention it! Smiley Somehow I could never seem to get it to work on the computers that I had at the time, now I can get it to run, but ACOF is a whole lot better as of right now...Smiley

Thanks for the smiles,

P.S. Hagar and I are Looking Glass Studios enthusiasts from the past... 8)...!

Nah, not that one Foz. The original Flight Unlimited with the aerobatic planes including the Decathlon. I would post a pic but this thread is in danger of being nuked, Roll Eyes

PS. Hands up anyone who knew that Citabria is Airbatic spelled backwards.*

*PPS. Not a lot of people know that. Cheesy

Isn't FU1 the sim where you could take an amfibian, land it close to Alcatraz' pier, wait for this convict to enter your plane, than fly him off to somewhere ...
'Sonoma skypark...' That one?

Or all the versions have that?

It's under a pile of dust somewhere, should still have it.
Maybe I'm confusing sims here.

Just to clarify. There were 3 versions of Flight Unlimited.

The original Flight Unlimited (or FUI) was pre-Windows 95* & basically an advanced aerobatic sim with aircraft like the Sukhoi 31, Extra 300, Pitts Special & Decathlon over generic scenery.

The one JW is referring to is Flight Unlimited II, the same as in Fozzer's pic.

The final version was FUIII which added the Seattle area (I believe) but was never really as popular.

The Looking Glass sims were excellent for their time & although restricted to small areas in the US they had some features still not included in FS. I always found the FU flight model more realistic.

*PS. I have the later Windows 95 version of FUI on CD.

Close your eyes, and think back to times long, long ago.... Smiley...!

...

It included a Decathlon bi-plane then...!

This is a scan from my CD case... Grin...!
...trubble is...
It's a DOS game...
..and it worked fine in my old Pentium 486 DX 100, with a 3DFX card...
but not in my sooper-dooper set-up now... Cry...!

Cheers... Grin...!
Paul.

Foz old bean, do you have a death wish? Tongue
I refrained from posting any more images to avoid this thread being deleted. Now you're doing it yourself. Roll Eyes Tongue

I think your memory is playing tricks. The Decathlon I remember in FUI was the same one in your shots. I don't think there ever was a biplane version. ???

You might like this extract from a review I found on FUI. Wink

But to really have this program shine you need a really fast computer (I would recommend a Pentium 100 or faster).

You are on the ball mate. It was, (is), Flight Unlimited II... Grin...!
Did you manage to transport The Rolling Stones from San Jose to the Altamont Stadium, (just past Livermore),  in time for the Rolling Stones Concert...?
Wipe the dust off your version, pop it into your disk drive, load up, and remember just how good programs were, way back in the past.... 8)...!
LOL...!

Cheers mate...!
