A couple of cool webpages I've found for either building your own Spitfire or buying a reduced size replica...

A little out of my price range! Smiley

Or go the route I'm going and get some Marcel Jurca MJ100 plans and build it from scratch Grin

Ozzy 8)

PS. There are a number of Jurca models, not just Spits, but P-51s, Me109s, FW190s, P-40 etc. Worth a look Wink

There are a few bits lying around the flat at the moment. I haven't had too much time lately to do anything. I'll get back into the project this weekend. Still trying to source parts. The engine is still giving me the biggest headaches (after wing construction!).
I might start on the tail this weekend..... Or I might go out with friends for a few drinks Grin
Here is the link for Marcel Jurcas homepage http://www.marcel-jurca.com

glad to hear your progress is well,, going.Smiley
although you can keep your spitfire as i am still looking at saving for my DC10 in the next 10 years, fully 1st class furnished, currently looking in the $400,000-$600,000 range. i see it being rented out privately maybe sports teams college teams who want to decent travel. free travel for friends. Again though it depends on how sucessful an airline career i have. Not as rewarding as building your own but hey:)

Will he end up having to make a hole in the apartment to get it out (no joke - it's happened before to an overenthisiastic builder)

I've just started cutting the wood and making bits as I can. I live on the 4th floor, so launching from the balcony is one hair-raising option for a first flight Grin
Nope by the summer the house should be finished, and I'll have a large garage/workshop for the purpose of assembling parts in... And the missus thinks its for the car Grin Grin Grin

Now I gotta ask.  Just where are you planning on getting landing gear for this thing at?  Or an engine?

The landing gear I'll be making myself. I've got a couple of options so far on the engine, it's a long way from that stage yet though. Once I've got a fully assembled airframe I'll start worrying Grin

Why not get a complete Yak-9U, 1:1 scale and built according to the original drawings

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

So here's what you do...

Give her one as a Christmas present, and then complain about how you went so FAR out of your way to involve her in your interests, and make you relationship a more loving and nurturing one.  The let the Yak sit until the Spitfire is done and complain that SHE never does anything with her plane and if SHE refuses to finish the thing, you'll have to take it on yourself or waste all the money you spent on HER Christmas persent.  It's great because she feels like shit for MAKING you build a plane!

For those of you interested in Spit projects, check out http://homepage.mac.com/jgohm/iMovieTheater16.html this is the second test flight of Bob DeFords MJ100 (same thing I'm doing), powered by an Allison  V-1710-63, producing 1325hp! The music is cheesey, but the plane, well she speaks for herself 8)
