Well once again, after many interuptions (ie. Weddings and family) I was able to continue on in my trip.

This leg of the trip is definetly the first time I started to undertand what the cold really feels like.
When I left my Motel room (aka Atco Trailor) and headed for the Baron, it was -20 Celcius and  I realized that it is a very good thing it is not later on in the year!

After warming up the engines and getting temperature in the cabin to nice level, I cleared myself for takeoff on Runway 20 and tuned in Pond Inlet, Nunavut into the GPS.

This leg is not a very long leg due to the fact that I have never flown with the temperature this cold and I wanted to make sure everything went ok...
...

Current destination for this leg...
...

Lined up on gravel Runway 20 and ready to roll...
...

Lift off...surprising not much drag on a gravel runway...
...

As I was on course, I came to realize another surprising fact about the north....that the days are getting shorter and shorter !! It was only about 4:30 p.m. and sun was already starting to set.
But on the positive side, for the first time for me ever...I saw the northern lights!!  Shocked They were amazing and it was not even completely dark yet!
...

Now, as it seems to happen to me EVERY TIME I get close to my destination...it clouded over again! ! ! (notice the temperature now!)
...

I got within 10 nm's of Pond Inlet and Started my decent. I headed through the clouds and things were a little bumpy but not too bad...(I did some investigating on how to use my Radar Altitude gauge and it gave me the peace of mind to know that I was not going to nose dive into an igloo..)
...

After I broke through the clouds, I got a good visual of the runway and lined it up for final...
...

Safely down and parked...I started my shutdown procedures. I had to break out the engines covers this time! Brrrrrrrr........
...

Now as I finished my shutdown and opened the door to head out, I heard a faint hissing noise. After investigating what it could be, I noticed that I had a puncture in the left tire! I must have hit the gravel too hard and popped it...just glad I noticed it now and could get it fixed before next takeoff...(you can see the dust getting kicked up from the air escaping...)
...

Thanks for watching and comments/suggestions always appreciated!

Hey Cherokee, this is turning into a true soap, at least I am getting into the habit of checking very regularly for the next episode of your trip.
I especially liked the #9 'check- fuelstate'.
Also, I wonder, what will you do when weather doesn't permit you to touchdown at your destination. Do you always ( Wink) take more than enough to evade to another strip? It can't be very easy up north.

Thanks JW! I am making sure I keep enough fuel to reroute if I have to but the airports are pretty remote up here! I check the weather first to make sure that the clouds are not right to the ground at my destination...(no ILS up here!!)
Other then that I pretty much just use my GPS and my Radar Alitude gauge to figure out how high up I am...

Thanks for watching!!

I was not sure what to expect being this far north but so far so good!  Wink
My farthest north destination is Elsmere Island National Park...I should be there in 2 more legs...then I head south again...
