Some of my AC do not have a GPS/NAV switch installed in the panel, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a keyboard shortcut to toggle between the two.

TIA,
Rivanwood

Go into your key settings and check, if there isn't there might be a place to add one

If they don't, they probably also don't have a pop-up GPS. No good adding the button without the pop-up really, although you can if you want.

You can do both by modifying the panel design using CFGEdit.exe

Anyone not sticking a GPS and GPS/Nav switch on a place is an ass.  If you just wanna go from airport A to airport B, GPS is just the way to go.  VOR's are too much of a pain in the ass.  And don't tell me they're easy if you know how to use them, I have an instrument rating in real life, I know how to use them, it's just way, waaay more convenient to use GPS.  It's so easy, the instructors at my flight school would bitch-slap us if we even touched the GPS.  Wanted us to do it the old fashioned way.

If you want to keep the plane "vintage" looking, then make two aircraft, one with the GPS stuff on the panel and one without.  Or make a separate panel with the GPS switches/buttons on it, like the compass "panels" many planes have.

You have an instrument rating, and you think VOR's are a pain in the ass?  Undecided   Your instructor needs a new profession!   Have you ever had your GPS fail while in IMC? I fly with a certified GPS as my primary NAV instrument, but always back myself up with VOR's. There's nothing like flying across country at 2am, getting cleared "direct destination", handed off to the wrong controller, and answering the million dollar question......."uuuhhhhh where am I ?............uuhhh 1,367 miles Southeast of Seattle, that's where!!!"  Roll Eyes Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Undecided

.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

Your smilies are gay.  As in homoghey.

Anyways, I'm referring to Flight Simulator.  Like I said, they wouldn't let us use GPS, so I've never used it for real-life navigation.  I always used VOR's, or an NDB if I got bored.  And the GPS's were only in the airplanes we learned our private in.  The planes we flew for our instrument ratings didn't have it.

Next time, give the controller a reference from Timbuktu to test how smart he is.  Controllers are such smart-asses, pilots should give them a taste of their own medicine more often.

OK WZ.............relax..........take a couple of deep breaths.........The reason the DEFAULT smilies are here, are so that the author's mood can be accurately purveyed. Sometimes in black and white, humor can be constrewed as anger etc. etc. ...........The main intent around here is to assist less knowledgeable aviators, in learning about the basics of aviation. I fly for a living, and I can tell you that there are enough angry pilots out there in the system as well. Please do us all a favor, and don't teach up-and-coming pilot hopefulls that expressing anger at controllers is acceptable. I'm not sure how old you are, but you should remember that some of the members here are in the 10-12 year range, or even younger, as far as I know. "VOR's are a pain in the ass, and controllers are such smart asses" is not exactly positive input for a Ten year old.
