Seeing the airport is listed as one of the most dangerous and hard flown approaches, it was evident that yours truly decided to check it out. Since POSKY just released their 757 I was anxious to try it out!

But a little note: yes I have cheated abit, I've looked though LOWI aerodrome charts of course and more important; I've a cockpit DVD where a transavia 737 executes the approach seen below. So basicly I'm just mimicing the big guys  Smiley

The approach itself is very interesting, after passing Rattenberg NDB at 9500 feet, you descend with a flap 30, gear down configuration. Coming from the East, the natural rwy selection would be ILS 26, but I'm flying the visual to runway 08 using the Innsbruck NDB. Well enough babbel from my part: here are the pics!

Flying just above the mountain. LOWI can be seen in the background
...

Making the sharp right turn, hopefully I can pull this off!
...

The POSKY 757 is a mean looking plane!
...

Well, the turn went okay, let's get aligned and watch that sink rate!
...

Passing the tresh hold at around 150kts
...

Touching down safely on runway 08, but where's the smoke at ???
...

Work those spoilers baby!
...

Innsbruck is surrounded by LOVELY scenery!
...

Nice little U-turn eh
...

Well I hope you enjoyed this little recap. The approach was certainly lots of fun!  Grin
And regarding the smoke, it seems like I have a bug in my FS2004...the runway is asphalt, but the plane bounces like it's a gravel runway...yikes  Smiley

Over and out!

Edit: I made a typo earlier.  The descent is flown with the flaps at the 2nd highest setting, in the 757 that would be 25, and not 30 as I first stated. For some reason I thought the 737 and 757 shared the same flapsettings.  Grin

they fixed the VC-and-effects file

with the original (no number at the end) you don't have strobes either

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

That's definitely one I've gotta try. I (nearly) did it in a 777 once  Embarrassed. Lol Wink. Nice pix, especially the 3rd one.

Well done mate. Grin

Hey Geforce, I also tried it in a triple 7, but I never managed to do that tight turn. Full rudder pressure (well kinda...)  Almost hit the mountain. Would've made nice head lines though...  Grin

A little advice when flying the approach: When you are about half way on your turn, aim for the road which is located on the far side of the river Inn. The road will lead you to the runway and it is a great indicator if you need to make roll corrections. The road can be seen in pic no2. Do NOT mistake this road with the one coming down from the mountain  Wink

Too bad my pix lost quality when resizing them in photshop. I had to compress them to "minimum" to make them under 100k large. I'm planning on making the height and width smaller next time. Cleaner shots, faster loading time.  Smiley

Yes, the approach was a blast. Too bad my screenies didn't come up like I wanted to do. But I simply can't crank up the FSAA and Anisotropic filtering while flying difficult legs. If I did, the pics would've been really kick ass ones  Grin
