Watch out! When you become a resident around here, strange things begin to happen! You're significant other starts wondering where you go every few minutes, the dog dies of malnutrition and you are constantly running back and forth from the store to your computer, fetching snacks for the other Residents.

Not only that, but you may never have a social life, you will forget about girls alltogather, and when asked by coworkers how your weekend was you tell them all about your flightsim adventures

I usually type full words (I'm becoming a more formal-type member). I used to type with crypted words. But as I progressed through the ranks, I decided to type like an adult (in fact, I am!! I'm 19 as of October 10, 2003). Go figure.

Very True.
When I first came here, I knew nothing. But as my knowledge increased and as my 3-D modeling skills improved, I have been asked (not long ago) to help some people with their projects (due to my DVC-modeling, Aircraft-modeling, and Car-modeling skills).
You know what, I think that there should be new ranks for this forum. I mean, there are some people that have already reached their 2,000th post and they are still designated as Residents.
Suggested Ranks to install:
6 stars - Valued Resident (1,000 posts)
7 stars - Perminent Resident (1,500 posts)
8 stars - Major (2,000 posts)
9 stars - Colonel (2,500 posts)
10 stars - General (3,000 posts)
Ok, so I have gone a little overboard with the rank names and number of stars. But hey, it's a start.

LMAO!!
Katahu, that sounds like a pretty good idea, but the names will have to change. I have always noticed that the "ranks" around here are very much non-military, which I like very much.
How about:
1000 = Special Resident
2000 = Permanent Resident
3000 = Master Resident

Go to the Suggestions forum and look for a thread called 'Stars' and you'll see several suggestions for new categories. I made some, Ken made some, etc...

I agree agamer. People have come here to talk about post numbers not look at 3 million posts (over exadurating) by you all saying pointless things you trying to write in a hurry so you could boost your numbers. I have seen 2 forums so far where you have posted about 5 things in a row. The forums are going slow as it is.

I know I have been bitching about the loss of my posts and stars, but that was because I had a pride in trying to truely contribute to a forun I have come to love, and they served as a reminder of just how many friends I'd made and how often I had tried to be helpful, but now it seems, for some members, the acquisition of posts and stars has become nothing more than a race to see who can get the most the quickest.

hey Fido, Dont worry about it mate:)
people respect you for your help and the time you have put in, so your loss in posts, although very annoying for you i'm sure, isnt a huge deal, you havent lost that sense of respect, those who are rushing to get more posts, seem to think it'll mean they get something ele or some sort of respect, when really it doesnt and it'll only tick people off more.
i have now been here over a year, and i keep thinking my 3995 posts or what ever it is, is alot, but really its only about 10 a day..

Agamer - Its not a race to get to 100000000000000 posts
. Ive been looking at the forums for about 2 years and have only made 179 posts (still seems an awfull lot). I try to make posts when I think I can help the most (although I don't know much about most things) or add an interesting point.
By my calculations I shall have 4 stars in about another year.
PS. Hi GraigL, im updating my Bristol scenery for FS2004, Unfortunately I lost all my objects i had made (post in the scenery design forum). Do you know a site which has any photos of the airport buildings and stuff? I just did them as good as I could remember before but as im doing them again it would be nice to get them as lifelike as possible.
