My sentiments:

"LOOKING, LOOKING, LOOKING!"
That's what I was told during my soaring lessons. Which, truthfully, the artical points out is not very well developped in FS. (3D surround vision, I don't think so)

Then: if I was a testsubject, I'd rather have the traditional lessons, instead of the ones with FS.

3Rd: teaching me to enter trafficpatterns? With FS? AI is always overtaking me when I'm on final (unless I approach with 230 kts).

Nice article, but a lot of BS if you ask me...

After spending most of my life using flight simulators of some sort on my computer I went up for the first time last spring with an instructor who was surprised at what I already knew. And now that I'm taking a groundschool course, I can't even tell you how much the flightsimulators have helped me.

I agree, during the few lessons I've had, the instructor commented about how I already knew where each gauge and control was on the C172 I was flying and how I was already familiar with the radios and nav equipment.

I would love to get my hands on the Navy versions they were talking about.  Anyone know where?  There was a link in the article, but it wouldn't let me download it.

As for moving this, I'm not sure where to move it too, so let it ride... Grin

Technically there isn't supposed to be any flightsim talk in the cafe, so it should theoretically go in the general board Wink

However, it isn't banned from the General board. Pete has always allowed general aviation/flightsim discussions there. If it was a specific flightsimulator it would go in the apprapriate flightsim board, See what I mean?

What a quandary.

It wasn't 2002 or 2004 specific.  General Discussion is supposed to be non-FS stuff and Flight Sim speak is not allowed in the Cafe.

The article wasn't even that good.

Actually, it was kind of interesting and a very good subject for discussion.  I still want to know where to get the navy version of FS...
