Isn't there an easier way to repaint aircraft? Instead of repainting, is there some way to unpaint it and then start over?

Sure - presuming you have a paint program that has layers, simply make the "original" texture and paint over it in new layers. Once you have your repaint set, delete the original layer, and you have your repaint available.

There is no way to "unpaint" the textures and have only the basic "bare metal with panel lines" texture - uinless the model comes with a basic set of templates.

I just painted my first plane using Microsoft Picture It. It creates it's own layers and in each step what you see is what your going to get. Save it as a Picture it file and you can call it up and modify to your hearts content. Save it as a Targa of course for transfer.
Picture it is fairly easy to learn and is quite intutitive. Learning curve was short. Plus all colors are Compatible
with MSFS

Does Picture It! open the default textures (DXT3 format bitmap) without an external program to convert the texture?
