New to aircraftdesign, I want to modify the fs9 Beechcraft Baron to have turboprops instead of piston engines. I'm not thinking of modifying the power or any other flight characteristics of the Baron, I just want it to have the standard 2*300 horsepower, but with turboprop characteristics and sound.
I managed the sound by copying it from the KingAir, I even managed a slow spin-up time for the propeller by editing aircraft.cfg, but it doesn't "really have" turboprops. When I change the engine-type to 5 in the aircraft.cfg, it doesn't respond to the powerlever anymore and the enginepanel says  the engine is not running, although it sounds like it's running.
What do I have to edit to achieve this?

When you change the engine type to turboprop, there are many other characteristics - in both the *.air file and aircraft.cfg that come into play.

Not that I've done this "conversion" before, but I would start by printing out both the King Air and Baron flight dynamics files, to have an idea of what to copy/add from the King Air to the Baron.

Your first "draft" would be to copy the engine performance/characteristics from the King Air *.air and aircraft.cfg files to the Baron.  Also, alias the Baron's panel to the King Air's panel.

If that works, then you may want to start "detuning" the turboprop engine's characteristics to a type more appropriate for the Baron's smaller "physique"

Hope this helps.

More on flight dynamics at the links shown in the "aircraft.cfg and flight dynamics" topic.

thanks, it certainly helps, and I was afraid that I would need to edit the .air file. Well, I guess I'll have to start digging Tongue
