Tried some editing of the Ka-226, using the dynamics of the R22 with the Tail_Rotor switch on 0 and same size for the secondary rotor.

effect: black screen and FS crash

Anyone any idea why?

This is a long shot, but have you changed the default flight to include the aircraft you are working on?  If so, FS seems to be unable to load a changed aircraft if it is the default setting.  This happened to me a couple of days ago, and the only way I found to fix it is to reload FS! Undecided

no... i took the Ka-226 (available here) gave it the aircraft.cfg of the R22, and edited the tailrotor to be the same size as the main one (and somewhat higher up)
