I rushed this weeks version of my project to get it ready for my beta testers. They reported that the gear do not show up in the down position. This is a multiplayer problem only.Gear show up perfectly in offline play. In multiplay, spot view the gear for your own aircraft show up. But not the other players gear in same version of the aircraft.

Possible cause: I did not have time to create texture templates for the gear doors and farings. So I just picked a spot near the gearwells, and framed areas on the fuselage & wing.bmps that should be the same colors. Then I applied them as wrapped textures to the door and faring parts.

I am using FSDS1 & Aircraft animator to design for cfs2.

Questions: Could the above mentioned possible cause be the culprit? Or is there another cause for this diplay problem?

Any help and suggestions will be welcome. Thank you!

Hi,

If an aircraft is created in FSDS1 the gear struts, wheels and doors do not show up in Multiplayer.

You need to upgrade to FSDS2 to be able to see them in multiplayer.

FSDS2 also lets you do animation without using Aircraft Animator. It enables you to create canopies/doors and excellent Virtual Cockpits, use dynamic shine through the use of materials etc etc.

It's certainly worth the upgrade.

Hope that helps.

Regards.

I have Fsds 2. I tried importing this project. I set the key frames and names correctly. It worked fine in FSDS 2 but when I generated it into the sim none of the animations worked. I decided to finish this project in FSDS 1. Then work thru the tutorials for FSDS 2 before starting a new project in it.

Now then that said. You are saying that aircraft animator & FSDS1 cannot produce working gear animations in multiplay. Is there a fix for it? I notice a section in AA settings called "apply multiplayer patch". Or perhaps SDL edit?

I'm not sure what that patch does, but I don't believe there was ever a patch to correct that particular problem for FSDS1 and Aircraft Animator.

I think Felix may know much more about Aircraft Animator than me, I was only 'playing' with it back then and didn't really explore all that it could do.......

I don't think SDL Edit will solve the problem either, but you could try emailing Mike Crosthwaite the author of the program he will have the definate answer.

Whatever you do, once you've read the tutorials for FSDS2 you'll never look back. And remember we are always here to help on this board.

I hope Felix sees this post so we can hopefully get definitive answers......

I seem to recall such, also.

In FSDS2, for example, make sure that in your preferences you've selected the path and CFS2 as the sim version you're building for.  If by chance you've left it as FS2000, or FS2002, your model is not a CFS2 model.

Also, not all FS2002 animations are supported by CFS2 (lever_ stick and lever_pedals come to mind)

I've got some feelers out in other places for a response.

All right then. I will finish this project using FSDS1 and AA, but save the fsc for import into FSDS2. I will keep an eye on this post. In case you get a response. Thanks to you both. Glitch

It doesn't work that way.  If you're going to create the CFS2 model from FSDSv2, then your AA animations will NOT be recognized, unless you set your FS sim version to FS2000, which defeats the purpose of going with FSDSv2 in the first place.

Thanks Felix, I was beginning to get out of my depth!!

To anyone toying with FSDS2, switch to it when you can, it's such an excellent step forward you'll never regret!!

Glitch: Goodluck with your project! I went through the same dilema with my MH-53 Pavelow chopper, half way through I got FSDS2 but decided to carry on with FSDS1 because it would have taken much longer to complete aftr importing the project. I then started a brand new project (those F-15s) in FSDS2 and learnt from the beginning.

I realize that if I import the FSDS1 .fsc into FSDS2 I will not be able to use the AA animations. From the few FSDS2 tuts I read thru, I think the process would involve renaming parts & resetting part centers for at least all of the animated parts, then setting the keyframe animations. Oops! I forgot setting the parts parental heirarcy. A lot of work. Almost not worth doing. But I like this design and would like to use it in FS 2002 as well as cfs2. So I plan to put the .fsc in my SDS (some day soon) folder. Work thru the tutorials and a couple of designs in FSDS2, then try a conversion. Thanks again for the advice guys. HABU where are your F-15s located? And what sim are they for? I have all the M$ Flight/combat, sims from 2002 down to FS98

They are here at simviation in the FS2002 Military section, both are FSDS2 models which I used to get my first taste of the program.

Hope you like em! They weren't set up for CFS2 though...

Sorry they're listed under 'David Bushell', they are a couple of F-15s from Lakenheath, an E and a C.
