I went to the dell website to configure a comp and relized that the ATI 9800 Pro was a 128mb graphics card. I thought the 9800 Pro was only a 256mb. The price would seem to agree with me there, as hope all you would, or just make me think i'm an idiot. Either one.    Grin

The ATI Radeon 9800 Pro is available in both 128MB and 256MB, with a $100 difference in price.

Don't get a Radeon 9800, get a FX5900 if you want power.

Easy to say, if you have $699 CDN to pay at Futureshop Shocked

I have seen whole systems sell for less than that  8)......you don't need to pay that much for a vid card, but don't let me turn your head if you thing you can justify it....after all, its only for playing games..... Wink   Grin

    Maybe so, but still...
Always good to get, stick it in there and forget about it.
I want Half Life 2, I can only get that if I upgrade my card.

I got a 64mb mx/mx Nvidia card.

go for the 9800pro with 128mb. it's totally sufficient for HL² and even faster than the 256mb-version. Shocked
otherwise, look,if you can get one of the last 9700pros ,they'r e still very good.

Yeah I am really happy with my 9800 Pro.  9700s are good from what I hear as well...and somewhat cheaper.

Toms Hardware has a series of tests on high end ATI and Nvidia cards.
My 9700P 128 is a good value.  The 9800P 128 was about $80 more for about a 15 percent increase in performance.
According to THG, the 256 cards don't provide much additional performace but in the future they may.
The Nvidia top end cards are a little better than ATI top end but cost significantly more.
Check the tests.
PriceWatch for costs.
I prefer boxed for the warranty vs OEM.
