The new carrier-based campaign is finally ready for download. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2korea.htm

I've sent Pete the details for posting on the SimV CFS2 Campaigns page tomorrow. Thought I would announce it here first so you guys can check it out for us. Just hope we didn't miss anything.  Feedback welcome as always.

Enjoy. Wink

I have downloaded it and flown the first mission in the campaign.  It was very well done.  Hager, you and your team did a excellent job.  I think I am going to download the Hunter's campaign too.

I've tried it but can't survive launching from the ship ???
The auto-matic catapult that was built in launches me with my engine off and I hit the sea, if I manage to stop before the end of the deck and taxi back I don't have enough power to take off.
I have the original Panther and I tried to use it as it has built in catapults of its own (afterburner key) but it dosn't get me up to speed anymore. It has never been a problem before, I would taki up to the front of a carrier throttle up release breaks and engage the afterburner and then be on my way, but now even unarmed  with 40% fuel on board I still hit the sea.
Can the catapult system be disabled so that I can take off when I'm ready?

I'm really enjoyed the Hunetrs capaign and I'm sure I'll like this one even more once I can get in the air.

Craig. Please read the Pilot's Notes. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwpnotes.htm
Our version of the Panther has been specially modified for carrier take-offs. Hit the parking brake while the mission is loading. Start the engine & set one notch of flap. Open the throttle smoothly & release the brakes at full revs. You might need to haul back on the stick slightly at the end of the deck. Providing you follow the instructions even an idiot like me can do it. Cheesy

Mission Starts
**************
The type of mission start is stated in the description of each mission, so that you will be prepared.

Remember that you have Kneeboard Checklists for most situations...Use them.

You will experience four types of mission starts in Bunker Hill:

- Deck Takeoffs - Because the carrier is in motion, you should set your brakes (CTRL+ .) as soon as you hit the FLY NOW.
This will prevent your aircraft from rolling on the deck.
You will notice that your aircraft has been placed as far back as possible to give you a max takeoff roll.
Start engine, open canopy, full flaps. Set trim per checklist.
Open throttle to full and release brakes [ . ] (Period) only after the engine has reached full power.
As you approach the end of the deck feed in a small amount of backstick and hit "G" just as you leave the deck to pull in the gear.
Close canopy and begin retracting flaps at around 130kts. Remember that airspeed is more important than alitude at first.

You should have no difficulty in getting the Panther airborne even with full fuel and armament.
If you do, you may reduce your fuel load in the Player Aircraft section before starting the mission. Even at an 80% fuel level, you should have enough for the mission. Be aware that if you WARP at full-throttle, your fuel consumption is increased accordingly. So cruising and
warping at 85% thottle is wise and economical.

- Airfield Takeoffs - Kneeboard Checklist.

- Airstarts** - No special instructions needed....see **Note at end of this document.

- Simulated Catapult Launches - Before you hit the 'Fly Now' button, set throttle to full and have just a bit, not much, backstick fed in so you don't make a big splash after you come off the Cat.
Simulated catapult shots begin about 5'above the carrier deck with gear, flaps and canopy up and closed, but you are launching from the port catapult. Brace yourself.

WARNING: Cat launches start instantly at the beginning of the mission. Should you wish to delay this, hit the P key while the mission is loading. This will Pause the sim at the beginning of the mission and give you the opportunity to prepare yourself for the launch. Hitting the P key again will trigger the launch. Should you wish to lower your gear and flaps and open your canopy before the launch, You can do so while the sim is Paused. This is not advised, but can be done without incident.

PS. Our Simulated Cat Launches are actually air starts.
Quote:
**NOTE: If you are flying in Single Mission mode, and the first mission that you chose to fly happens to be an airstart, you may get a screen message: PRESS E to START ENGINE. This only occurs when the first mission you fly after opening the program is an airstart. After that mission, however, this will not occur again. The campaign does not begin with an airstart, so you will not see this in Campaign mode.

I don't have a problem with the launch itslef, but after I'm off the ship my engine is cold and I hit the sea before it can start Sad
Like I said I've managed to get the sequence to stop but I'm on the bow when it does and even with the original panther I can't launch anymore.
How would I go about setting the missions up for a deck start? I'll figure out how to up the power of the panther fairly easily but I have no real experience editing missions.

We used 3 types of launch in the missions. Deck Start, Air Start & "Cat" Launch. These are varied but cannot be changed without modifying the missions themselves. The mission notes tell you the type of start so you can be prepared. The cat launch is really an air start with the gear up. If your first mission in a session is one with a deck start there should not be a problem with the cold engine on the others.

This is a bug with jets in CFS2 which we couldn't fix completely. I'm no hotshot pilot & have been testing these missions on Full Realism for the last few months. Since we fixed the Panther FD I can actually start the engine with no problems if it's not running on an air start or cat launch.

PS. This might depend on your joystick settings. If you're having problems try hittng the Pause key while the mission is loading. This will give you time to wind in some Up trim & select 1 notch of flap before the launch. (This should not be necessary if the stick is properly calibrated & you give it a little back pressure to avoid hitting the deck.) Then hit the Pause key again to start the mission.

PPS. The missions were created for & tested with our specially modified version of the Panther. I could never take off successfully from a carrier with the original.

Please tell me if this helps.

Thanks for your patience, I've got it sorted the way I like it now.
Still can't figure why there was ever a problem with the original panther though, it was able to take off from any ship and for a while today it was impossible Roll Eyes, gremlins perhaps?

Glad you got it sorted. We spent a lot of time getting this thing just right. We can't force you but would prefer it if you use our Panther & try the missions as they're intended to be played. If you stick with it I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed testing it.

Bunker Hill is a sweet piece of work with several hundred manhours invested, and many bugs overcome.   Hope it lives up to expectations.  8)

Slim. Our campaigns are intended for single player. None of us play online & we stick to what we know. It's possible some of you guys can convert them for online use if you wish. We would obviously be interested to know if this can be done. Wink

I have 1 problem with the campaign, well 2. First off, it doesnt show up in my campagns but I can fly the missions through my single mission option. And second, at the beginning of each mission, I get an error that says my "a6-m2 cannot be found so mission cannot be loaded" Then it loads and works fine, but I cant get the map to show current mission or advanced info after mission starts. I used the auto installer in the DL and my airbases.dat matches the ones in the DL. Other than that its a great addon.

Now this isnt a problem with the campaign I dont think, its a problem with my PC but I'm hoping someone can help me out. This has happened on the Tidal Wave mission (DLed from here), all the P38 missions from Dave Copelys XP-38 site, and now this mission. What happens is when I get to the target (in this case it was the 3rd mission I believe, with the panther, destroying factory buildings), as soon as bombs are released my comp freezes up. I still have sound, but I cant alt, alt+tab, or even use my windows button. No keys work at all on my computer. I have to manbually shut the comp down by pushing that dreaded little on/off button. Can anybody help me figure out why this happens? I hate flying all the way to the target just to have a freeze up before my bombs even hit the ground.

My specs are as follows:

XP Home
p4 2.0GHz  40GB HD
256MB ddr sdram
64MB GeForce2 MX400 AGP
