hey i am upgrading my computer and wondering if anyone has either an xfx 256MB geforce fx5600 8 x graphics card  or a XFX NF25ALH (SKT A DDR M'Boad

the spec i am interested in

AMD athlon xp3200+
XFX NF25ALH skt A M'Board( ddr400, 8xagp, 400mhz fsb)
1024mb ddr (pc3200) 400
xfx 256MB geforce fx5600 8 x vivo & dvi

there the main bits, on paper it looks quite superior to any amd based machine.

XFX is relatively new to the market but is intended for gaming just wondering if any of you guys (or gals Cheesy) have got any of them listed above and how they perform...much appreciated daz

a nice system, but the 5600 is a bit underpowered and doesn't really fit to the Athlon. you should either buy a 5900/ultra or an ATI 9800/pro for a maximum of performance.

I disagree!

I have an Asus 9560 (128mb) and its a superb piece of kit!
Despite the Celeron CPU.......

I'd say you could expect great performance from any of the Nvidia FX's or Ati 9000 series cards.

I'd be more concerned about your motherboards chipset, if the one your thinking of is based on "Nforce2" then great! - happy simming, if not, I'd re-consider one that's Nforce2 based - the best chipset for an AMD system from what I read..............

Me, I just have to wait until I can replace this Celeron heap for something a little more beefy (533fsb 2.4ghz P4 should do it!) - At least, unlike me, you've got a CPU to match whatever card you settle on Daz.  Wink

yeah i have money to keep in mind aswell...i am getting all the components from a place up the road from me and they dont stock the 5900. another alternative pretty darn close is the  XFX geforce 4 ti4200 128mb turbo card which looks good on reviews even though it is aging ....

that particualr mb isnt the nforce 2 chipset its the

NVIDIA SPP North Bridge.
NVIDIA MCP South Bridge.

does that affect perfomance at at all?

another alternative is the Epox 8RDA3+ (DDR400 / Nforce2 / LAN / 1394 / SATA / 400FSB) board can anyone advise this?
