The files should play fine. It might be tig that you need to re-install the program, or if you are familiar with the program, then just copies the files off the CD into your FS directory.

Thanks for the reply ozzy, yes i have reinstalled the program ( a few times ) & yes i am doing a full install of the program, the video files are in the FS2002 folder on my hard drive but when i play them i just get the sound & no picture, the same as when i try to watch the lessons while FS2002 in running. Thats why i thought i might need a special codec to view the videos ( lessons ).

Hmm strange. Are you using MediaPlayer? And what Codecs do you have installed?

Aren't the lessons just standard .wmv files?

You should be able to run them from Explorer, and they should open with Windows Media Player.  If they don't, there's a problem with WiMP (possibly codecs) or your file associations.

Try searching your HD for other .wmv files and see whether they play properly.

I've deleted them from my HD as space hogs but I went back to the CDs and found a bunch of them.

If you haven't deliberately deleted any of them a search for *.wmv files should show them.

It's possible that we have all misunderstood the original question.  The in flight lessons don't have video.  They are just the instructor talking to you over the radio.

Sorry, your right webb, I mean the videos from the getting started section these have no picture just sound.

& ozzy, yes i am using windows media player.

Its been a while since i have played FS 2002 & when i had it installed before (over 12 months) I was running windows ME, I can remember watching the 2 people on the videos taking you through the basics, no problem they worked fine.

Recently i reformatted & installed windows XP, & i also have the new windows media player 9 series installed.

I watched these ground school videos earlier...and well, if you can't see them you really aren't missing much. Grin

That's why I deleted them.  But if thetigman wants to see them he should be able to.

It sounds like a problem with WiMP, not with FS.
