OK , lets hear it.....I have heard a ton of these, and the only one I know of which works, is the one I use......guaranteed !, Shocked ...if you do it correctly....

I was taught mine by my Grade 7 Eng teacher in a flash of brilliance for a teacher.........most of them knew nothing at the time, or so we all thought.  Roll Eyes

Well Mr. Logan, THANK YOU !  I have used your method all my life and have yet to get a case of HICCUPS which don't stop immediately when I go through your process  Cheesy......I will post his procedure in a while, after seeing if anyone else knows of it, but for now, I want to see what you all think works........breathe in a bag, drink fron the other side of a glass, hold your breath, heard lots, but bring on your best, then I'll give you one to try which will be THE ONE !   Grin      Guaranteed !   8)   Grin

From my wonderful girlfriend, Sarah.  This works like nothing I've ever tried...

A SPOON FULL OF PEANUT BUTTER!

Not sure why, but it works 100% of the time!

A sure way to cure hiccups is to jam your fist down the infected person's throat and quickly open and close your hand several times.  It relaxes the vega nerve.

An oriental method that works on 95% of people is this- standing, lower your chin down to touch your chest. Grit your teeth and breathe in until you can't take in anymore air. Hold it until you cannot hold it any longer and then exhale slowly through your teeth that are still clinched. All this should be done with your chin still on your chest.

Most people can cure them by doing this one time...some take 2 times. I've had this cure hiccups that people have had for days. I've only ever found one person it wouldn't work on.

Albert Einstein - "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."

Martin Luther King Jr. - “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - “There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity.”

Mark Twain - “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

It's a long time since I've had hiccups. As I remember, holding my breath usually fixed it. I'm a good underwater swimmer & can hold my breath longer than most people. I do recall one occasion when I had an extremely painful & embarassing attack at a dance. Tried all the usual things with no effect. Luckily a friend who was with me used the Heimlich Manouvre he'd just learned. At this stage it was either kill or cure & I would have tried anything to stop the pain. That fixed it. Grin

Sounds frightening doesn't it? LOL
Not quite so risky as Sock's method though. http://www.heimlichinstitute.org/maneuver.html

I find a good hard blow to the abdomen normally does the trick, e.g. telling Mike Tyson he is soft and he can't hit you v.hard in the belly button hard!

Isn't that how Houdini met his end? The guy who punched him wasn't Mike Tyson either. Roll Eyes

Well, how about a scientific logical approach to a simple problem ?.....here is what I was told, although I don't remember the exact words, it goes like this........

The actual situation which is happening is a stutter in the synchonization of the semi-involuntary rib cage expansion and the inflation of the lungs.......basically they are out of synch.......its a simple matter to put them back on their timing by this method......

Most people, when they fill their lungs, suck in their stomach muscles but the reality is, is that this is backwards......what you need to do it push out your stomach as you breathe in deeply........slowly........then as you exhale, you need to pull in your stomach ......slowly.....

What this does is to re-align the involuntary timing of the entire process, by getting the diaphram ( lower rib cage cover ) to pull down when you breathe in and to rise when you breathe out........its these things (suck in/stomach out...slowly -- blow out/stomach in...slowly)which will, after two to three breaths, begin to go into their own involuntary sync .......

I very rarely hiccup 3 times and never 4 times unless I want to piss off Wendy with the noise. First thing out of her mouth is " Breathe  Damnit ! ".......then I laugh and get rid of them........ Roll Eyes    Grin
