Big (500 pounds) macho (muscle) gay men. . . Thank you very much. I am thinking about 20 or 30 of them sharing, oh, say, 2 beds, twins. . . In a 6 foot by 4 foot non airconditioned cell in the middle of the Sahara desert with no wind, and only beans and beer for food and drink.

Well, the bad news is that they don't think he's the original author of the Blaster bug. He's just the one who mutated it to where its at now.

Probably he got frustrated about it, secured his machine and his evil mind thought: let's make this worse.
that virus is horrible: as soon as your just-configured and connected XP machine has started it's networking driver it goes down with the 'RPC call reboot' thing

It is good to see them catch someone involved in this sort of thing every now and then, no matter how little their involvement.
Of course being a minor he will probably get off with probation, even if that is the case, he should be banned from any computer usage for a good many years, and forced to pay some sort of massive fines which would be donated to providing computers for underprivileged kids/families.

Yep, they said they'd be trying him as an adult. But I don't see how this is even an issue. I mean, why was it even mentioned in the story?? He's 18. He's no longer a minor. If he had committed murder, then he'd be tried as an adult. Robbery, tried as an adult. Rape, tried as an adult.
How is this any different?

If he is 18, then he should be tried as an adult without question, they just showed his picture on CNN so he's no minor. Prison for sure!!

The Texas Supreme Court says sodomy is legal now.
These kids think they're geniuses but they're really nothing more than petty vandals.
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.

The only way to stop these Viruses and the people who create and 'lauch' them, is to make it so terrible for them if they get caught, that they wouldn't dare do it.
Let's face it, alot (if not most of the time) it's some 'smart arse geek' who thinks he's got the right to cause the rest of the world so much time, worry, money and God knows what else.
I think nothing less than LIfe (that's natural life) in gaol, will deter these morons.
"You do it once, you get caught, your life, as you knew it, is over".
Maybe then we can use the Internet and read emails without fear of having our time and money and sanity threatened.
IT REALLY IS NOTHING BUT TERRORISM.
In fact, now that I think of it they should be charged and dealt with as terrorists.

I totally agree.
The goal of creating viruses is nothing but trying to disrupt our lives, just like those suicide bombers

All it would take is for a bunch of people in the 'major' countries to get a petition together to lobby the respective Governments to legislate an Act making virus 'creation' and/or 'launching' an ACT Of Terrorism against the people of the world community.
After the Act was passed, the authorities would have no choice but tro deal with them as terrorists.
I'm busy putting together a Website and Business so that I might be able to work from home if it comes off. But if someone put a website together for people to visit and register as 'petitioners', it could be presented to the 'lawmakers'. If there's enough response, they have to act or risk getting voted out.
(Although I suspect that the 'website' would have to have some very good 'Virus Protection'........lol)
