I'm in the middle of an ARF P-51D Mustang...this could be the perfect maiden flight!
Hey Ozzy, you up for a transatlantic game of catch?

That's some acheivment. I had visions of Rifleman sitting in a boat with a transmitter in his hands shouting direction instructions to Stormy at the wheel until I read that lol.

That would never work, first shouting at women just
gets you in trouble, and second, have you ever tried
give a woman instructions??
Are they going to have an RC car ticker-tape parade!!
This is really a great thing they have done, I should
be whopped for making lite of it!!

Very clever stuff.
However, using an autopilot seems a tad sneaky to me. I don't fancy the idea of a 5 kg model flying around unsupervised. Not sure if it's strictly legal either. If anything went wrong it could end up anywhere.

Sounds like a neat project. If I did such a thing, I would have put a hamster in the model. I know its bad, and increase the chances of crashing, but still.
When I was younger I wonder if I can get my hands on proper materials. Then make a rocket with a payload of a goldfish then see how far it goes, and make a recovery parachute so it comes back.
Ok, I'm wierd.

I was discussing this a couple of days ago with a good friend in Ontario....he knows the guy who did it, and he is always looking for some obscure challenge to get his name in the record books.....for long distance flight all you need is high enough capacity of fuel and recv'r batteries...... then it's just a matter of attention span....heck I have flown a plane without any motive power at all for over two hours......in fact, during that particular flight, I removed my launch winch from the field and stowed it in the back of my car..........

Nah, the frogs could get out again if you knocked the bottle over. I would never hurt a living animal with a couple of exceptions (pigeons, mosquitoes, camels, and certain members of my family (thought they might be classed as vegetables...))

To keep this in perspective and see that my accomplishment isn't all that great, we have an organization called the LSF(League of Silent Flight) who set standards for glider guiders to acheive....for LSF V which is the highest you can acquire, you need to do one 8 hour Slope Soaring flight.........attention span, and batteries are all you need on a windy day.....as long as you have all three, you can finish this task .....there are others for the Level V, but this was just an example of what it takes to do long duration flights...
