Read an article about using fuel cell (Hydrogen) in future cars. Although environmentally beneficial, this is bad news. Anyone who knows what hydrogen is and what it can do is going to think twice before messing around with the gas. Once these fuel cell cars get on the freeways, that's when I get me a tank.

Sure right now hydrogen fuel cells my be alittle scary to be around, but give it a couple years and everything will be fine.
And the hydrogen in the Hindenburg did not start the initial fire, it merely accelerated the process.

Right you are Steve-O, Hydrogen is the fuel for the fire and not the ignition source....but if you have lots of fuel around, then you need to ensure there is no way for it to become ignited........I believe that it will be handled in a safe manner, we have groups and commitees to ensure that..............

Allow me to narrate my experiences with hydrogen. While on board diesel electrica submarines, our main propulsion under water are the batteries - 250 cells, each cell weighing one ton. . When charging the batteries with our diesel generators, the batteries emit hydrogen. The crew have been trained regarding safety procedures, etc. while charging including ensuring that it does not exceed three percent. This was routine activity (charging batteries) however, in one submarine (the USS Pomodon) due to inattention and carelessness of some of the crew, the hydrogen emission exceeded safety limits which resulted in an explosion killing an officer and a crew. Remember that this was a controlled condition conducted by trained personnel at limits way below the concentration designed for fuel cell cars. I can invision a collision involving fuel cell cars during commute. You have seen nothing yet.
