woah I think your being a bit harsh there not all Germans who fought in the war were doing so willingly. I they refused conscription then the reich would not only kill them but also either kill their families or put them into labour camps and torture them.

Many of the German soldiers were not willing supporters of the reaich or hitler. even if a hell of a lot people refused I doubt Hitler would have stopped don't forget he was a deeply obsessed man.

Hitlers reign was born out of sheer desperation for someone to make a difference to the state of the countries economy. After several attempts by other governments to rectify the state of the country it all ended in disaster after the wall street crash. Once he was in he got rid of all democratic rights and they were stuck with him.

If you could have refused to fight with such consequences looming over head I admire your courage but I for one could not put that upon my family.

Thats not to say that any of the war was just.

But I'm afraid that ramsa is quite right exploder you really need to learn some tact and think about what your typing before you do.

anyway all this is beside the point. Once again love your choice of aircraft. I'm not a huge fan of those clouds but thats just my lowly opinion wheredya get it and will it work in 04?

Crumbso,

I am well aware of the history of the Third Reich many of my family died in Auschwitz and Dachau. Some fought knowing they would die in the Warsaw ghetto.

As to the Wermacht I'm sure there a few conscripts who were threatened and forced but not the majority.

But the knight's cross was not for them and that is what this is about.

Maybe I'm just old but whenever someone sticks a symbol of oppression in my face I get a little pis.........off.

Millions died in WWI fighting the Germans and the state of the economy of Germany was a sorry result of that......and it has become a convenient excuse for the rise of Naziism.

Even a quick review of German history would show you that the trends toward imperialism and dictatorship under the guise of nationalist socialism existed long before the defeat of WWI and the depression.

And for sure Anti-semitism was is and sadly forever will be a part of European history since...... well forever.

The elite German units like the Luftwaffe and the Waffen SS were neither forced nor threatened they volunteered and were well aware of what they were doing.

And you're right it is besides the point. LOL

The plane is from simviation and it will not work in Fs9 and there is a wheeled version.

The clouds are composed of multiple layers from FsSky.

The water is a program called OceansTX and OceansFX.

To all of you thanks again for your replies and interesting feedback.

Jeez guys.

So Silent Exploder doesn't like the stringbag, I personally love it and have a great deal of respect for the pilots who flew it.  I have met two, one was shot down by a British Cruiser on the way back from the Bismark and one who had massive burn scars on his back and spent four days in an open boat.

But Ramsa your comments about the conditions in the 3rd Reich seem ignorant to me.  None of the free western nations have a perfect record towards any of the others and all peoples have been at times oppressed.  The SS were completely separate from the other German armed forces and should not be lumped in with the Luftwaffe.

As to the German Ace's not deserving their awards because they got their kills against inferior opponants what about the Spitfire pilots who won the DFM, DFC, MC etc taking out Stuka's or the P51 pilots who earned their medals killing hardly trained boys in 1945.

These are mistakes of the past, let's not allow the events of 1939-1945 colour 2003.

Wow, nice shots! I remember reading a story of 3 Fairey Swordfish who took on a squadron of 7 top of the line airplanes to save an island, and won... Shocked Tells you a lot about the "top of the line" technology, eh?  Roll Eyes Smiley

Saratoga. You might be thinking of the 3 (actually 4) Sea Gladiators, Faith, Hope & Charity that defended Malta against 17 days of aerial attack until reinforcements arrived. http://www.killifish.f9.co.uk/Malta%20WWII/Faith%20Hope%20&%20Charity.htm

For some reason the Gloster Gladiator & Fairey Swordfish (nicknamed Stringbag) are often confused. Athough they are both biplanes they're quite different. The Gladiator was a single-seater, the RAF's last biplane fighter, obsolete before the start of WWII. A few remained in service until they were replaced by more modern types. The Swordfish was mainly used as a carrier-based torpedo bomber & served throughout the war. It could carry 3 crew.
