Hi.
I started the topic called "Export error by .mdl files" and there is no solution for my problem
but I hink I'll find someone who makes me a .mdl file Wink
So I worked on on my X-Wing and now I'm on a point where I don't know how to continue.
I finished the,...how is it called...,the mesh. The model is finished but there are no textures.
I also have Animations for the gears and the wings and for the cockpit door.

At the end the X-Wing shall be a vertical take-off aircraft which has moving parts
(gear, open and close the wings, open and close the cockpit door), panel, sound
and a virtual cockpit...and a texture Wink

You have to know that this is my first aircraft and my first gmax model Undecided ...
So thought I start this topic where I will ask all questions I have.
I hope that you will can find a x-wing download URL at the end of this topic in the future.

My first problem is the following:
I'm not a very good painter and so my own textures for the x-wing would look...bad.
If there is someone who would like to make the textures he can contact me here or
via mail (sekl@freenet.de). I have a toy model of a X-Wing (20cm) and I could make
some pictures of it and send these by e-mail or upload them on my Homepage.
It would be good if he could "make them on the aircraft" too and not just paint them.
I have my problems with texturing models.... I tried it about 20 times with the bad picture
I draw...Wink

If this is done I again don't know what do to.
Making the .mdl or have I to do something for the virtual cockpit or the panel or moving parts...?
Sorry that I'm so stupid but I really want to learn it Wink

Thanks for understanding such a stupid german boy Wink

You are going through the same B$ I went through when I first started to look for help as a beginner.

I knew NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, NULL, Deise ist shaise!!!!! Grin No, I'm not german. I'm a crazy American who wishes to learn the language. LOL

Anyways, I suggest you REEEAAAAADDDDD through the tutorials. That's what everyone here in simviation told me to do. REEAADDD!!!!! Grin

Do you have any idea how long it took me to master just more than half of Gmax? YEARS!!!!!!!!! About nealry 2 years. NOT MONTHS!!!!!!!

Sorry I have to say this man, but it's time that you start being a bookworm. Roll Eyes

There is a small set of tutorials on this website:

www.onnovanbraam.com

There may not be that many tutorials, but regardless of their small amount, they are good.

Not only that, the site also offers a SHAISE load 3-view and 4-view images in great details and clearity. They range from Modern Military Jets to Vintage Fighters of WW1 and WW2 to Cars of all kinds to Weapons and all the way to EVEN Human Characters.

You can also look up these websites as well:

1. www.freeflightdesign.com (for more info anf tips)
2. www.avhistory.org (for making realistic flight dynamics)

You can also find the tutorials on your FS2004 ACOF CD (Disck 1), if you have FS2004 though.

For the VC it is not very hard to do at all Wink As far as I know all you have to do is, model the interior, group it as interior, and then group the exterior model as exterior, then export. That is the just of it at least. Tongue

Also, I am very tempted to help you out in painting the textures for your X-wing, the one thing however that is holding me back, is my busy schedule. What I mean is, as of now, mustang and I, are working on three different aircraft, and on top of that, there are soccer tryouts starting this week. Lips Sealed So basically, I don’t want to say I will do something, and then never get around to doing it.

Well, it sounds that you have a large chunk of the X-wing done, but you still have many obstacles ahead of you. All I can say to you is, read tutorials, and most importantly read the documents released by Microsoft, such as the SDK for instance, because that is where you will learn how to do all of the things like animations, VC, effects, and all of that other great stuff.  Grin

Good luck to you, and sorry I couldn’t of helped out with the textures.
