hey, as u've seen latelly ive been designing my add-ons with FSDS2 now i've been hving a hard time with the materias, i followed the instructions on the help file but the one i come up with (and only to gevie the cool dynamic glare) is soo bright when light textures (whites and light blues and so on...) are applied to it that looks more like glowing than shining, is not very nice Sad i want learn ow to make a glare kinda like Kristof Malinowsky's Junkers 88 series or like the one the M$ Default planes have on the windows......

the convo im using is this:

Red  Green  Blue    Alpha
0           0        0      255
10        10       10
50        50       50
255     255     255
300

this gives this kinda white material but as i said before, doesnt look very apealing when light textures are applkied to a part witht his material Sad

any help or tutorial u know of is more than welcome

that specular power of 300 is a bit high... if you're going for a sheen, I've seen levels of about 20 recommended....

You can control the colour of the specular highlight in the same way as the default material. Either manually type in you RGB numbers or drag the hue slider.

If you say your object looks more like it's "glowing", make sure you have Emissive colour set at 0.

Try this:

...

Thses setting should give you what you are looking for. Try experimenting with different values, and read the "Material Basics" tutorial under "design workshop" in FSDS help. This section gives some useful pictures that help to describe materials and their properties.

Hope that helps.

EDIT:

Sorry, the RGB values for Specular colour should read, 255, 255, 255 - white.
