Hi all. After reading "way of the dodo " thread,Ive decided this poll is called for.Id like to asertain just what my fellow simulated aviators are thinking about this "new and improved" M$ product. Personaly,Im staying with FS2002 because Ive spent untold hours of work(mostly grief and aggravation) building the program to an acceptable working level. To "upgrade" would mean opening a whole new can of worms, and Id need a new machine to boot-which is not an option at this time. Im only a sheet metal fabricator, not Mr.Gates.If I do Purchase another M$ product,It will be "Train Simulator",as Im a "rail Head"too. What will you do?
To bad I cant make a living out of this, but it would probably kill me.

I'm sticking with 2k2 until it dies out and I either have to upgrade to ACOF or give up the sim. I don't wanna have to give it up, but on the otherhand I'm wasting a lot of time on the sim when I should be training and studying.

Hey Lurch,Judging by some of those prices you posted, you must have stock in a diamond mine to afford this!
LOL ,Its not much better here in Ohio USA,M$ will want $80usd for ACOF-Thats my electric bill!!

8)Lurch,my sympaties sir,but consider the exchange rate;$80 bucks is roughly a quarter weeks pay for me,and with two hungry, growing sons still in the nest, well, "Billionair Bill" will just have to wait
Not to corrupt this thread, but how far will a USD go in South Africa ? (P.S. Cape Town is is one of my regular hubs)

Current exchange rate (well, when I saw the news earlier...) it was R7,54 to USD$1.
Who do you fly with that FACT is a regualr hub for you?If you fly on VATSIM then you should come up to FAJS (Johannesburg International)-I'm normally on Approach up there.

I dont fly online YET, havent figured out how(would like to learn!) My normal flight flight profile is KCLE to Tenerife to FACT to Perth Australia (Theres a scary airport-In a crater!) Ive been using a Pan Am 707-320-My favorite! Im not sure if my machine/internet connection/flying skills are up to par for online opps
??? This is another reason why I dont want to move to ACOF,cause Id like to get this down first . I have a saved flight I titled "African Odysee",Which basicaly starts at Berlin-Templehoff and zig-zags all the way down through soutern Europe/Africa ending at FACT. Johanasburg is the last waypoint before I Begin decent and call for landing instructions at FACT.I dont think Im up to snuff to fly online with "The Big Boys",so untill Im confident I wont be a menace, Ill "crash in peace"
To bad I cant make a living out of this, but it would probably kill me.

I'll be getting FS2004 on Jul 30th. After I've logged my 600th hour on FS2002(I've only got a couple more left), I'lll be transferring everything I want to keep, then i'll be retiring FS2002

I'll have to wait a while until it comes out here, so I'll monitor the acof forum and see what people say before making a final decision, but I think I'll either get it, or ask for it for Xmas ('cos thats about when it'll be out here!).

Where are you shopping, and why do you continue to shop there? According to M$ itself, the MSRP is only about $55.

I think I can run both, I just got a new HD. Its HUGE!!!! I think I over did it a little, but it was cheap. I think I'll wait till the prices go down a bit. If I wait a year I can get it for 20 bucks!!

I think I might end up running both as well....it wasn't until recently (even more recent than the decision to buy it) that I got smacked in the mellon with the concept that I might not be able to fly CoF online for a bit...lol

Flight Plan Closed?

At this time I will be sticking with FS2002. Just got an upgrade to my system and FS2002 is running like never before. Eventually, I would like to get COF and run them both at the same time. That is until I get all the cool stuff from FS2002 working in COF. At that point I will then put FS2002 back in the box. This is going to be some process.
However, when LOMAC comes out, then I will be making room for that. But that is a entirely different matter for a different forum.
