Just curious. I have about 203 different aircraft + liveries in my Aircraft folder, although I need to get rid of some. That's a lot but I know some of you have even more. This includes things like cars and boats too.
 
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. I usually keep track of all my A/C with precision......I now have " Several--- if not more " in the hangar.........

I actually do from time to time. I've cut it back to 190 but there are more I need to get rid of. I have some of the best in freeware and it's hard to decide what to keep and what to let go. I know what I have, nearly the complete Boeing 7X7 series, several vintage propliners including the B377, A buch of airbus aircraft, A320s mostly, Some vintage warbirds (including corsairs, zeros, etc.) , plenty of GA aircraft from a bunch of cessnas, monocoupes, pipers. I also have some various modern military aircraft including the F14, F18, Avro Arrow, and the Eurofighter Typhoon. Like I said, lots of big jets, mostly by Meljet and POSKY, some other good one by smaller designers to that match the people above. If they were all real, they'd be worth a Bill Gates ransom. I do have too many, trying to get rid of them. At least I'm not as bad as the guy with 300+ aircraft.

Currently 185 folders including defaults (with another 60 in the Hangar). I check out a lot of aircraft for various reasons in all M$ sims & usually leave them installed afterwards. This means I have far more aircraft than I will ever need or use. Most are just a waste of HD space. I suspect the number of installed aircraft affects the time it takes for the sim to load. It also makes it more difficult to find the aircraft I do want to fly on the selection menu. Thanks for the reminder. It's about time I had a clearout.  Roll Eyes

After removing most of my VA aircraft seeing I had to have ALL of them installed I'm now under 100 between my payware and freeware AC.

The problem is not enough time to fly them all  Sad
 
If there is an airshow with in 2 states of me I'm there&&...&&&&

P.S. ...wouldn't it be nice if FS 2004 allowed us to put our aircraft into seperate, "type", folders, so that we could select them by "type" in the main "Select Aircraft Menu"...
eg...
Piston, single engine.
Piston, twin engine.
Helicopters.
Autogyros.
Microlights.
Gliders.
Vehicles.
Ships.
..etc...etc...
It would be so much easier to find them... Wink...!

I archive all my addon downloads to CD's so when I clean house, I still have a copy of the original. I still have 5 Zip Disks that have all my old FS98 aircraft on them. And, I'm up to, I think, 5 CD's that have all my FS2000 and FS2002 addon aircraft, including all the scenery and utilities that I've collected for both versions.

What a library! If anything ever happened to the SimV archives, between all of us, we could probable get Pete up and running, again, in no time.  Grin

I don't have any right now. FS2002 doesn't work anymore and I can't reinstall because disc 1 was scratched, so instead of buying a new copy, I decided to wait for FS2004.

Fozzer, that probably culd be done. It may take a while, but under "ui_manufacturer", instead of the brand name, put the type of aircraft it is, i.e., jet, single prop, twin prop, etc. And then, under type, put the brand name, and under variation, put the type of aircraft.

yes, you can open your planes'  aircraft.cfg files
and change the manufacturers to the category the plane belongs in

but it would take an ENOURMOUS amount of time to do that if you have over 100 planes,  Grinlol

i' myself, don't have hundreds of planes on my game, that's cause i'm can get really picky when it comes to downloading aircraft, i only take planes that i really wanna spend time flying, and it has to have a DVC or else i'm not gonna take it for a cross-country ride

by the way, there should be an easy way to remove unused aircraft, you can delete the folder but the gauges will be lost in there forever (and they take a lot of space)

...not that i'm complainting, though  Grin
