Author Harold L. Buell, who was a highly decorated dive bomber pilot in the Pacific in WWII, wrote a great book called "Dauntless Helldivers".
In it he describes how he learned the split-S maneuver flying from Pensacola NAS in an F3F.
This manuever was a big part of the success of Allied dive bombers against the Japanese in WWII.
I thought it would be a good topic for screen shots.
Part I is the takeoff from Pensacola and the climb to 8000 ft. Part II is the maneuver itself.
Early morning takeoff
Sharp climb to altitude
Maintain heading
Visual identification of target at 8000 ft.
