Hello all,
I need some tips on landing.  I can land most single engine plains but when it comes to the bigger plains  I always undershoot the runway.
The plain I am having the most problem with is the jetstream 41.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ru practicing ILS or visual approaches?
Anyway, try using IAS hold while approaching. That will help you to focus your attention in the altitude and alingement with the runway. Then when you r about to reach the runway reduce all the throttle after disconnecting the AP. Notice that your Vertical Speed increases. Pull up to reach approximately a 3 or 5 degree angle. Let the gravity do the rest.
Hope this tips have been useful.

Even if you have your power settings and descent rate right when you cancel AP and are on manual, look to the other end of the runway not the near end or the approach lights. Just a small thing but it can help Smiley

Shocked hi I enjoy the challange of getting my 747 on the deck. Theres so much you've got to watch all at the same time.
The first tip, click the map and check out the elevation of the airport, if its 2000ft and your flying around at 3000ft your closer to the ground than you think. You should also study the airfield in detail and get familier with the layout and what direction the airstrips face, i.e. if your landing 7L the direction of the strip could be 67 degrees or 74 degrees.
Give yourself plenty of distance from the airport to line up properly its no use trying to turn in a couple of miles away and stick it in it won't happen.
As you approach and watch the ILS runway strip make only 2-3 degree adjustments to get back on line and as you get closer keep the aircraft level and use slight rudder control to move the aircraft slightly left or right.
As you descend to the airstrip remember if the ILS diamond in your pitch attitude indicator is towards top its telling you your to low and to pull up, and vice versa dont try and climb to get back to the indicator, level out  wait for it to come to you.
Watch your speed the slower the better (without falling out the sky) get your flaps extended and gear down, these help stabilise the aircraft but remember as you increase flaps to increase power. Press Shift+Return so you can see over the dash and down to the airfield.
And as you smash I mean glide onto the airfied get that nose on the deck and press F2 for reverse thrust and it dosn't hurt to set maximum brakes.
Undecided it's difficult I know and you'll miss the airfield quite a few times before you nail it. Just remember theres no shame in going around and trying again.
You may also want to start with some smaller jet liners before the big on, I downloaded the Airbus A300-400 and found it good practice responding really well to your joystick movements.
Well good luck and see you on the ground hopefully. Cheesy

One other tip.
I like to control my decent using the throttle, in the last couple of minutes before touchdown. Power settings control your altitude a little more accurately. Just after passing the outer marker start using the throttle to adjust your altitude.

It takes practice, because that's your busiest time of your flight, but when you get the hang of it, you'll be making "pillow soft" landings all the time.

To get a good idea how this works, use your C152, and use nothing but your throttle to see how much power affects your altitude.
