Fantasy of Flight: A sort of aviation museum just outside Polk City, Florida. I spent a day when on holiday and what an experience!
The guy that owns it (Kermit Weeks) has loads of restored warbirds and they all fly!
For example, he has the only airworthy B-26 Maurader left in the world! He has a Spitfire, Mustang, B-25, B-24 and Corsair. Now, the signs said do not touch...but I couldn't stop myself...
...I had my hands all over the Spitfire! 8)
There was an exhibit thing where you got to go inside a Flying Fortress (yes, a real B-17).
It was cramped and dark...LOL.
And the flying display that day was some German WW1 bi-plane, but it was amazing! He flew it at only 25MPH just above the runway!
I could faster than on my bicycle!
Then there was a simulator room where you could fly a Corsair against a lot of Zeros'...they said it was M$ CFS2...but it wasn't.
Anyway, I've got a load of photos in my digital camera...I'll get them up soon.
Photos of a Spitfire, Mustang, B-25, B-24, Wildcat, Spirit of St.Loius, German bi-plane, etc...
There was also tours where you could see the planes being restored. There was alll sorts...even a Gloster Meteor and a P-38 that some idiot had sawn in half to fit in a lorry!

Whitey - you have earned my eternal (for at least the next five minutes or so) - contempt. You were in my neighborhood and did not see fit to let me know.
FOF is an excellent place for the flight enthusiast. That simulator is a blast. I went there with three other squadmates from the Damned, and we obliterated everyone else (and each other) You can request several "planes" .. P38, F6F, Zero, Oscar ...
Another interesting place in the area - Kissimmee, is Tom Reilly's Warbird Restoration Museum .. this is a working museum - what you see today, may not be there next time you come around.... Currently they're restoring a B-17G that had been used as a turboprop test bed ...

Didn't know that was your hideout Felix.
I got a choice between FoF and the Warnird Restoration, but I chose FoF because I'd saw it on TV and it had flying displays every day...LOL.
If I'd waited a couple of more days and went on fathers day the flying diplay would've been the Mustang and the B-25.
PS: Think I'm coming back to Florida in April...

Last week I took a friend to Spokane to see a fully restored B-24 & B-17. They even let us walk through them 8)
I took about 60 photos on my digital camera, but i've just been to lazy to post them

I had a look inside Sally B when she was a RAF St Mawgan a few years back. And apart from between the bomb racks it wasn't too cramped. Plus there were nice big windows too. And all of them had a nice .50 cal sticking out of it!
Woodlouse2002 PITA and BAR!!!!!!!!&&&&Our Sovereign Lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the Act made in the first year of King George the First for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies.
