When you fly one of the flights in the menu 'Select a flight' it says that there is no scoring, but you will be told if you reach your destination. I've flown severel flights but not sure i've completed them correct.
How exactly are you told that you have completed ? voice or visual ? Please help.

You get there and thats about it, the ground control will be indicated as that of the airport you were aiming for

What's that old saying about any landing you can walk away from? That's about it in FS2002. If you get where your going without hitting any other planes, scenery or the ground hard enough to break your plane then you made it. It's sort of a good thing too if you land at the airport you intended to but not manditory. Grin

Will,do YOU have an official FS2002 Pilots Licence??

But back to the thread,my brother gave me my first copy of MSFS in disgust. Mainly because there was no point to it-all you got to do was take off and land!!

As for completing flights don't forget to use ATC which will tell you "Exit next taxiway" then "Contact ground on..........." and if you haven't crashed on landing you've made it

Nope. There is not scoring on those flights. Nobody's keeping track of how well you pilot the aircraft.
But, they're really geared toward allowing you to practice what you've learned. Following Navaids, using approach charts, and most of all, FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS.
If you've read thru the library, and gone thru the lessons. You should have the basic skills to execute some of the flights. The flights are designed to hone your skills, and perfect your accuracy. Weather the flights are actually accurate in they're content, (not like the frustrating checkrides Angry

), that's a whole 'nuther story.

Hey, if you hit a runway your doing good. I've landed on a few taxiways from time to time. Damned things show up better from a distance than the runway.

I seem to remember a case of real world airline pilots having that same philosophy a few years back. I think I remember which carrier it was, but without being sure, I'll hold my tongue. Anyone else remember this?
