As I managed to get the FS2K2 CPL yesterday after many, many attempts I wondered how many others hold the various licenses etc available.

What is the truth here? Two people voted that they have a real PPL, one voted for real instrument rating, one voted for commerical rating and one voted for a real airline transport rating... is the other person that voted for PPL also hold these other ratings?

Sorry BE58D, it's not a vote as such.  You can tick more than one option.  I just wanted to see how many have bothered with the licences in the Sim community and at the same time find out if there are many here who hold real licences.

I passed the PPL when I first bought the game and two days ago managed to finally get the CPL so I have checked both the relevant boxes.

FS2002 PPL.  Working on the instrument classes.  Can't seem to get the hang of the bit where I'm intsructed to Radial 140 on the checkride...I know that means a heading of 320.  I fly on 140 for a minute, then tur to intercept the 320 course on a heading of 275, but then I just fail... Angry

I'll figure it some time.

It may be a simple matter of verbage(you were typing fast etc.), but don't confuse HEADING with COURSE. This is a most common mistake. "275degrees for one minute then 320degrees to join the 140 degree RADIAL inbound", will only work if you are SOUTHEAST of the VOR, but NORTHEAST of the 140 degree radial,(you might want to draw a picture to orient yourself at this point). If I am South East of the VOR but South-WEST of the 140degree radial, I will fly NorthEast(appx. 045degrees) until the CDI centers with the OBS set to 140 degrees with a FROM indication or 320 degrees with a TO indication. I used to tell my students to think of the VOR as the center of city, and the RADIALS as "streets". Let's start SOUTH of the VOR. If I want
to get to 360 street(radial), I'm going to have to get TO that street first. Once I get past downtown(the VOR) I'll now be on or FROM 360 street. If I hang a U-turn and head back downtown, My VOR indication WILL-NOT-CHANGE until I am South of downtown(the VOR). Practice in a Non-instructional environment first until you master it then try the lesson again.
