I've been trying to create windows in buildings. I've used shades of grey in the Alpha Channel but I either end up with a completely transparent window or completely opaque. What I'm aiming for is a haze to look like glass but to be able to see the interior. Just can't seem to get the right shade to give this effect.

If you've gone from opaque to transparent it's just a matter of keeping trying until you get it right. You'll find the alpha channel is surprisingly dark when you get the level of semi-transparency you want so don't make the mistake of making it too light a shade of grey.

Matt,

Just to show what I mean.

This glass is 'tinted' transparent (remember you can have any glass colour you want - green, yellow etc)

...

In the following , the top half is the colour used for the glass and the lower half is the colour of the alpha channel.

...

By the way, in the experiments I've done, the best bmp to use for transparent glass is 16 bit 444

Hope this is useful.
