Lost aircraft (Read 149 times)

Hi
Can someone explain to me that when downloading some scenery, some of it is fine while other complete areas come out as either white cylinders grey squares or even bright white runway /taxiways. What would cause this.  Also having recently lost some aircraft from the actual Sim why are they still in the 2002 A/C file and how can I bring them back?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Some 3rd party scenery requires the standard texture sets to be installed to the Texture folder of the sim. Common ones are the Airport, VOD & Nova textures although there are others.  Make sure you read the install instructions with the scenery carefully. They should tell what you need if the files are not included. It's a good idea to get Gerrish Gray's tree library which is very popular with scenery designers. These files are posted here at SimV & other FS sites.

The disappearing aircraft could be caused by you deleting or modifying other aircraft they're aliased to. My Aliasing article might help. http://www.simviation.com/lair/aliasing1.htm

This is a non-technical effort to help you - I'm not a scenery designer or Guru but try this........

A lot of the scenery you are probably trying to download is created using certain programs - Nova is one of them. If you don't have some of them loaded in, your Flightsim program won't be able to interpret the design work.   I have had the same problem in the past, fence-lines round airfields looking like empty bill-boards etc.   There are scenery tutorials in Simviation that should help you.

Can I assume that the planes you have lost are "add-0n downloads" or are they default ones that came with Flightsim ?     Do you have the Pro or standard version.

My thanks to both of you. I will have to concentrate on the 'read me' in future!!
As for the aircraft I have the standard version the missing aircraft were addon's. I have deleted some recently too.
      Thanks again.

Not at all Bazza. It's amazing how often 2 people posting at exactly the same time actually happens. Roll Eyes Wink
