I don't play it a lot, maybe once or twice a week. I mostly spend all my gaming time in FS2002 8)

I play a bit, but I've been working on some FS2k2 projects that have cut my flight time noticably recently.

I still play it every chance I get, even with the technical problems I've had.  There are games on my computer I rarly use, just because I haven't beat them yet.  Although unlike the others I don't get frastrated as much with CFS3 and I still play it...I should uninstall those games I don't use...

I play atleast a few missions a night.  Ever since I got my new video card, I reloaded CFS3 and started a campaign.  In the last week I managed to move the front line a quarter of the way across France before December of 1943.  FDR and Churchill should have had me incharge during the war.  Anyway, I play until I get tired of bombing and shooting down stuff.  It will never live up to FS2002.  And especially when LOMAC comes out, I will uninstall it for that....

I don't think it matters if I shoot down 5 aircraft or blow up a factory duing the campaign.  The line still moves no matter what....

Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I have changed my vote to beer coaster.

I have recently had to do yet another reinstall of my OS and now the effing program wont intstall.  I've always had problems with stutter and slowdown that after numerous tweaks and the patch became bearable and now this.

I have taken great pleasure in brweaking the disks in half and chucking them in the bin.  This is a bad game and now it wont work.  I reserve the right to sulk.  £40.00 I can't afford and countless hours wasted trying to get it to work.  If you could hear me now you'd need ear protectors 'cos my language is not pretty.

I've had CFS1 and CFS2 twice as long and they have survived unscathed through about 20 re-installs, why not this over sensitive piece of poo.

Bah Humbug and ARSE.

Will

PS sorry about the arse, it just slipped out at the end, eh, eh, gettit, slipped out, eh, eh.  Ooooh young man.........

Who switched the lights off?  I can't see a thing.......  Hold on, my eyes were closed.  Oops, my bad...............&&...

I play CFS3 all the time, and after tweaking my system it looks better than ever. Now I'm getting about 18-20fps on average with sliders set to 4 Aircraft, 4 Terrain, 3 Scenery, 2 Effects, 2 Clouds at 800X600 res. Once I get this I finally sort out the mess of the faulty video car I bougnt, I going to crank the sliders up to full.  Grin (BTW the above settings are with a 64meg Geforce2 MX400, 950mhz Duron, 512mb sdram)

Although they can't compair to what Ramsa can do, try Riva Tuner for Nvidia cards, available at guru3d.com (I'm not running an ad campaign for them, its just such a great program.)

Funny, people still limit themselves in resolution.  I find that resolution barely hits FPS in CFS3, I always play with 1600 x 1200 (or whatever the max is).

I use 800x600 because the other res settings hurt my eyes when I'm reading text.

I tried real hard to like it, but in the end, it still can't beat FS2002 and with FS2004 coming out in a couple of weeks, I don't see it getting a whole lot of time soon.  It just doesn't seem to have the appeal of the earlier CFS games and FS series.  I think in a year or three, when we look back CFS3 will be a low point of the series, despite the good looks (I can't deny that). Undecided

CFS3 has gone from coaster to #1 flight sim, sadly, thats onlybecause I've had to smash my piggy bank (ok, not on the CPU or Mobo!  Embarrassed) and get some better hardware!

CFS2 still runs better than CFS3 by an average of 25fps faster, however, CFS3 once you get into it, betters CFS2 considerably, its much more involving.... (IMHO)

Pity M$ hav'nt a clue about system requirements......

It's funny how CFS3 seems to run fine on mid range systems but people with high end ones seem to have the most trouble. I get about 18-20fps still, I could get more if I lowered the resolution.

Interesting theory orenda635, however, I've noticed I get an average of 10 > 18 FPS with CFS3 regardless of resolution! i.e. lowering to 640x480 for example is no better than 1280x1024! ??? Is this a trait of a GF FX Card? I'm stuffed if I know!!!

After playing FS '98, FS 2000 and FS 2002, I bought CFS 2, WWII Pacific Theater, earlier this year,(£20 new).
Installed it, played it for 10 minutes, got fed up with trying to shoot tiny little pixels in the distance, and very quickly un-installed it again.
Makes a FAB turquoise beer mat now.. Wink...!
Back to good-old civilian flight sims... Grin...!

Cheers all... Grin...!

P.S. changing screen resolution makes no difference to frame-rates on my system either...( 1024 X 768 )...... Wink...!

CFS3 is slowly but surly becoming a very good game.  Most major performance issues have been resolved.  The AV History group and others are already turning out new aircraft and when the Scenery SDK is released, I expect the Pacific theater to be available as well as the Korean conflict.  Heavy bombers will soon be coming, probably within a month from various freeware web sites. I had given up on this sim (Game really) IL-2 was a much better sim. From CFS2 I expected a move forward but got this game with stupid campaigns filled with redundant missions. My efforts in a 109 has secured Nazi victory??? Who wants to even go there even in a game! One step forward, too many to count backwards! I was disappointed to be nice about it. I bought F1 2002 (The only sport I watch anymore) and became addicted. But, my brake peddle broke and Logitech withdrew the steering wheels without replacement and I heard about the patch on CFS3. In so doing I found Simviation, Aviation History, Ground Crew and Sim Outhouse these through Combat Flight Center. Downloading these great 1%planes, ships, effects etc and with the MS Mission Builder. Wala, a great sim is born or maybe transformed. I got so into it I made a set of missions for download (they are at Combat Flight Center) and will be available here any day. It is hard to believe something so far from being right has come back from the brink to be so good. And, at the rate these fine designers are making new stuff, there is no end in sight. Thanks to all you talented people for coming to the rescue of this MS failure, a failure no more.
