I am curious what kind of FPS you guys are managing to pull off in the game with all the tweaks set.  I can consistently put the game in the mid to upper 30's, but I am wondering if I should be expecting even better.  I have done some tweaking, but by no means have I done everything possible.

Thanks

With a flight of bombers, I can't really play, everything slows down just too much.  A 8 vs. 8 fighter flight, I can manage 15 FPS.  Good enough for me!  Just gotta stay away from big cities too.

I manage anywhere from 15-25 FPS.  If you are getting 30 then you are doing better than the average bear.  I could probably get 30 if I turned down the scenery a bit, but I love the detail and have to compromise.

Remember the human eye cannot detect anything less than 24 FPS.  30 is what is used in TV etc.  Less than 24 and you could tell a bit of stuttering.  So you would not notice an improvement above 30fps.

I can get up in the 40's if the view is directly on the sky.  I have my scenery details cut down, shadows and lighting off, and my card is set more for performance than appearance.  Even so, I would say the game looks really good or I would actually turn things back up.

The really amazing thing is that I managed to hit a high of 76 on my IL2 FB game, but that was looking at a sky with no clouds too.   8)

I run details @3, except clouds @1, and aircraft @MAX... and get 60 in the clear blue, and average 35-45 in traffic.... but I do alot to tweak my OS to help things along.

AMD 1700+
W98se
512 DDR
ATA100 WD 30g HD 7200rpm
G4 Ti4200 64m
5.1 sound

I switched off dual pass render, switched on high resolution z buffer and changed the composite terrain and aircraft texture pools to D3Dpool_systemmem.

My settings are all on 4 with aircraft on 5 and I managed to pull a 73 in the clear blue.  It definitely made a difference!

I get about the same as Shep (thanks to his tweaks) but still get stutters when I have been hammering my RAM (I have XP  and a Pentium 4 2 GIGwith 512 MB RAM)

wow , 73 ??? and your complaining ?  next try going to the desktop display , advanced ,  and turn off the Vert.Sync.  it gained me a few FPS, but not much of a diffy.
I have seen 62 in the clear blue,  but the sky doesnt look right w/o some clouds.
and again , I am on a tight budget, so my 64m G4 is gonna have to do .
