Hi I've all but given up on CFS3 because of the stutter problems.  I've tried every solution I can find and nothing worked.  Why?  Because minimum computer requirements that MS advertised just aren't good enough.  I've got a PIII 500 MHz 4Gig 64 Mb RAM and Radeon 7000 32 Mb.  I guess the problem is RAM.  I've shelved CFS3 for many months now as I was so disgusted.  Anyway CFS1 is a great go and I love it.  Maybe I'll give CFS3 another go if I can do something with it.

What I am getting at is that it appears that I need way more RAM.  Is it true that I need about 512 megs?  if so how much will that cost me in $CDN?

Thanks all.

You need 512mb realistically, and a pretty fast processor, normally above 1ghz.
If you can overcome the problems with 3 its great, but yeah 1 still rocks Grin

PS. I don't know the price of RAM in Canada, but its quite cheap these days.

Now this is going to sound really stupid...but, where and how do I buy RAM?  'Cause I have 256MB of RAM and I have poor frame rates after a mission or two, so I think I want more.

Hi Can_Sapper,

I have a pretty decent rig to fly CFS3 on but it's still not fast enough for me ... especially with a lot of AI going on or when a lot of other action is happening. Although I keep it upgraded quite a bit, it is over 2 years old so it's about time for a faster motherboard (FSB) etcetera pretty soon.

Alienware Intel D850GB mobo w/P4_1.3GHz 400MHz FSB CPU upgraded to a P4_2.0(A) with the PowerLeap PL-P4/N adapter and then finally to the P4_2.6GHz. I'm tired of smearing thermal grease!
Sony 21" Multiscan E540/B
WinXP Pro_SP-1
512MBs PC-800 RDRAM
Radeon 9700 Pro w/Catalyst 3.4 Driver Suite
DirectX_9.0
45GB 7200RPM IBM Deskstar
Creative Soundblaster Live! Value (yeah, I know!)
Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers
U.S. Robotics 56K Fax PCI (ain't offered broadband here yet)
HOTAS Cougar joystick/throttle
Latest 3DMark2001 SE = 14,230

I'm surprised that you can even surf the web (without cursing alot!) with just 64MBs of system RAM. If you increase your RAM to 512MBs or thereabouts, you'll see a GREAT performance increase in everything that you do on your computer.

With 512MBs of memory (RAM) and a CPU and video card upgrade your computer will sim CFS3 pretty well.

You can upgrade your CPU to a PIII 1.4GHz at:

www.powerleap.com

for approx. $150.00 U.S.D.

And an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro for about $250.00 U.S.D I think. Other than upgrading your hardware you're gonna be stuck as far as CFS3 goes.

I know it sucks, it's ALL about the money.

Hi Sock,

The best place to start looking for RAM online is:

www.crucial.com

They have competitive prices (if not the cheapest) and the best "configurator" for making it easy to find out the exact type of RAM your system needs. But they don't sell RAMBUS RDRAM.

Good luck.
