I upgraded my video card recently, I had a 3DFX Voodoo 4 with 32 Mb of memory, my new card is an nVidia Geforce 4 MX-440 with 64 Mb of DDR memory.
The problem is that FS-2002 Pro used to work great on the old one with framerates always over 20FPS even in dense areas..! But now the framerates has just dropped to 10FPS only, and improves ONLY when i'm looking towards the sky!.
The new card is working well on other games with absolutely no problems.
My Specs are:
Win ME
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
256 RAM
nVidia Geforce 4 MX-440 64 Mb DDR
Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1
If you have any suggestions or answers to my problem please post them..!
Thanks in advance.

Have you got directX v9.0? Also which nVidia drivers are you using, the latest set don't work too well with the 4 MX series.
You will also want to add the following lines to your diplay.cfg file at the end of the GeForce 2 section:
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
[000010DE:00000171]
DriverValidate2=1
to sort out certain effect problems.

XP 1800+
512 ram
GeForce 4 440MXSE 64meg
plenty of open space in HD
I can live with rates hovering around 15 with all sliders maxed..........

Have you downloaded the latest drivers? I heard that when some people had the latest drivers they had a 20 fps increase. Same with direct x 9.0.

I'm using DirectX 8.1 and the latest drivers from the card's chipset maker (MSI drivers), and as I said the card is performing well on other games.!
Anyway i'll try the display.cfg tweak and will post the results here..!(Thanks Ozzy
)
I have a great doubt that the effects like clouds are affecting the performance, in addition to the auto-generated scenery.
Thanks for your help guys!

I've tried the display.cfg tweak AFTER installing DirectX9,
and i've really noticed a little improvement in the overall performance.!
The results are:
-With Mip Mapping ON i'm getting an incredible improvement ONLY WITH default FS-2002 planes AND SOME of the 3rd party planes.
-I'm getting a constant 25 FPS when inside the cockpit in ANY plane anywhere.!
-But yet i'm still getting 6 FPS when in spot view in some 3rd party planes (like Melvin Rafi's 747, or POSKY's 767 and A330).
Anyway, that solved half the problem but still I have to improve performance with other add-on planes that USED to WORK GREAT on my old video card.!
Any suggestions ?!

Unfortunately some add-on aircraft are immenesly frame rate unfriendly, as they are such detailed models, so in exterior view they will kill your fps.
The only things you can do are lower some of the settings for detail, and minimise AI traffic, these should free up a lot of resources. You just have to experiment.

Hi again,
Sorry for popping up this topic again but I solved my problem and wanted to tell you the solution... It may be useful for some of us!
The simple thing was that AGP VxD drivers were not installed!!! So the video card's bios mode was (PCI mode), I fixed that by installing the latest VIA 4in1 drivers, restarted my computer and THAT'S IT! everything was OK! and bios mode said (AGP 4x).
So I fired up FS-2002 and maxed the sliders and 1-2-3: I'm in the skies enjoying the view! 8)
Thanks for the help anyway!!
