You are not installing your aircraft in the righ way (read the readme file of your downloaded aircraft), the common way is to unzip your downloaded aircraft, you should have a folder, open this folder until you see the aircraft folder, this folder must must contain the model, panel, sound and texture folder, copy the main folder the aircraft to the aircraft directory in fs2002
Some times, inside the folder of the aircraft there is a gauge or an effects folder, you should have to copy those files in their directory

Run FSEdit in your FS2k2 root directory, then manually add the plane. For some reason some aircraft need you to do this.

I would highly recomend not using FSEdit. It's one of the buggiest software i've ever had the misfortune of using.
I've installed literally hundreds of aircraft into FS2002 and never ever used FSEdit. Some aircraft have needed tweaking to get working but that is rarely the case.
