Well I was at the memorial day service at the VA Center at the National Cemetery, where my grandfather is burried. It was okay, but what really made it better than last year was the dual f-16 flyovers they had. the came over at about 1000 feet. it was really great. i forgot my camera, but i will see if i can find some shots

i get the feeling this happens alot in the US. a while ago i saw a shot of a baseball (or was it american football) match when three B-1's flew over the stadium. pretty cool! i've seen the blues doing the same thing (on a photo of course)

While I love airplanes, and military planes are among my favorites, I have to say it's actually a sorry state of affairs when the US has to show off like this. This much show of force is just not right somehow.  It reminds me of Communist Russia and all the parades they used to show going through Red Square.  While a post 9-11 world requires heightened security, and that we show we mean business, I feel (at the risk of igniting a political debate, which is not my intent) that the present US administration is too much in love with the military.  Doing a fly-by at a Memorial Day service is one thing, at the Cubs/Pirates (or whoever) game is another.

If you watch any NASCAR race, there are fly-overs at every one. In Sonoma this past week the USAF flew a single F-117 and an unexpected flight of F-18's. For the most, NASCAR has had fly overs for many years
