I have a DHC-2 Montana Air float plane which will not float? I don' t know how to fix this. Have plenty of other float planes which work OK. Have tried to compare aircraft files and looked in air.file, but still none the wiser ???
Anyone know how to make it float?

The DHC2 Beaver plane is by Fred Banting . It's a FS2000 add on. Really nice looker with Repaint by Fred Choate. Its a nice plane to fly, three versions in one file (wheel, ski, float) unfortunatley the float version doesn't.

I don't think the fs2000 floaters
will work on fs2002 with out
major work overs I realy like
the little italian racer but it
don't like water so I slew it
and fly the "wheels off it"
bad pun

x has hit the nail on the head.
Before FS2002, you couldn't float anything on water. It was an instant crash. The parameters for defining a float plane were a new characteristic of FS2002 along with the water itself.
You can define them in the .air file, but it goes beyond just specifying that the type of aircraft is a floatplane if you want reasonable dynamic behaviour.
Unless you're completely besotted with that particular model, it's probably not worth the work involved unless you're extremely lucky with the remainder of the dynamics in the file.

Howdy:
other people have done the conversion a long time ago. Look for bvr_rpt2k2.zip or bvr7_upg.zip at avsim.com or elsewhere or go to
http://www.timberwolfaviation.com/
and look under Division Aircraft.
That should get you floating...
Cheers, Holger

Converting a floatplane to work in FS2002 is not really that difficult. Basically, you change the Class of the [contact_points] gear entries in Aircraft.cfg from 1 (wheels) to 4 (floats).
This will make it float in the FS2002 water. There's a little more work involved to make a proper job of it.
PS. Sorry, I made a slight mistake. I've corrected it.

No need to go anywhere! It would help if some forum users knew simviation or tried our search engine - not by filename because different sites use different filenames for the same addons... but by keywords/ title or author
Ever tried working yourself to the bone & some just walk right by... ?

Thanks to all of those who gave 'useful' feedback, and well what can I say about the rest....you know who you are.
Found the update file....bvr2k2 which allows the plane to float.
Something I learned a long time ago was, hard work never killed anyone, however taking a moment to ask saves one hell of a lot of time. Its called using a resource to work smarter, and this is where the smart guys (and galls) are.
Thanks again
Flying high.
